Hmmm...I just a got a book as a gift...Emma by Jane Austen. It's an old book published in 1960s! I love it! I love the smell of it! LOL...While looking at it, I can't help but wonder where it originally came from. Was it a gift for someone also? How old was the first owner when he or she got this book? How many owners did this book have before I got it? Imagine also how far it traveled. It was sent to me from USA!
I've read Emma before and am thinking of reading it again because of this vintage book. People ask me why read it again? Hmmm...well It made me think about reading books....I don't know if you guys will agree with me but for me as a book lover, I read books not just for the sake of reading a story but its an experience. I can almost always remember where I got a certain book and where I read it. So when you think about it, the book is like a memory keeper too!
Another reason I want to read the book again is that, I want to be "part" of the book. Some friends of mine prefer new books, like when they get 2 books of the same title, they will give away or sell the older one which to me is weird because it feels like your giving away a part of you. I like keeping books I've read, after all I've left fingerprints all over every page of that book just like how the book left prints on my heart and soul.
