aftermath

The storm yesterday was heaviest to the east; we only got about six or seven inches right here.

I just spent forty minutes clearing my car. The wind was strong enough that there was only three to four inches on the top. But most of what blew off there landed on the hood, which had a foot to a foot and a half. And there was a thin layer of ice under it all, which had to be scraped off the windows and lights. The snow was heavy, too.

The upstairs neighbor had cleared the driveway and walks with the snow blower after the storm was over yesterday. Unfortunately, he left a thin layer, which is now pretty icy. I slipped a couple of times and fell once, landing on my well-padded posterior. I was almost finished at that point, so I took a minute to catch my breath, then got up and did the last tiny bit. I should have spent another five minutes clearing some of the stuff by the fence, but I'd had it. What's left is no more than an inch; I can drive over that in the morning. (ETA: Oh, yeah, and we may get another half inch of snow overnight. ::sigh::)

It's supposed to hit 40° tomorrow, so this should start melting off. Unfortunately, it will be barely above freezing when I have to leave for work, so things will be a bit icy for the morning commute. Oh, well. I'll live.
