Lunacon Sunday

Mar 20, 2016 15:02

Got up early enough to check the weather again (the snow is holding off until later) and have another big breakfast. On my way over to the latter, I ducked into the art show long enough to see that I had won a Judges Choice ribbon for 3D art! and collected several more bids. The jackalope had enough to go to auction.

Then I packed and took my first suitcase out to the car. After that I went and hung out in the art show until it closed at 11:00. The tortoiseshell picked up enough bids to also go to auction, and there were some second bids on things, and the rabbit warrior and snapdragon went. I wandered around looking at who else had won ribbons and coveting the quilts (one of which had won a Popular Choice ribbon), then I chatted for a while with the group of people gathered around my table admiring the animals.

Then I took my other bags out to the car. As I passed by later, the art show director caught me, made me brace myself, and told me that the tortoiseshell had sold at auction for one hundred fifty dollars! Gulp! The jackalope sold for sixty, which is also a whole lot more than I would have thought. All in all, I made well over $500.

I couldn't pack up my unsold art (what little there was...) until 1:30, so I went to a reading by Naomi Novick first. Then I packed up, hit the road, and made it home around 2:30. I haven't finished unpacking yet, but I have started the first load of laundry.

This was a small con, only about 400 attendees (not counting staff, etc.) but still fun. I hope Lunacon can make it back after last year's hiatus.
