I spent Christmas with my parents and sister as usual. The train trip down was only notable for the fact that I actually got a significant amount of sleep. I'm crediting the eye-shade with that (first time I've remembered to bring it), although I still didn't sleep much on the way back.
I had good visits with family and with friends from Atlanta, both the ones who still live there and the ones who also spend Christmas with family there. (It's funny: K lives an hour from me, but we most reliably see each other seven states away, on Boxing Day. It's a tradition.) It's always good to be home.
One of my Christmas presents was delayed by Amazon oddness: They put the wrong gift in the box, so instead of the bobbin winder my brother bought me (thanks, S!), I got a Post-it dispenser shaped like a football. I'm sure Beau's Dad the Patriots fan would have loved it. I wonder if he got my bobbin winder? Anyway, Amazon is sending me a new bobbin winder (should arrive today or tomorrow) and they said I don't have to send back the Post-it football. Thrift shop?
Amtrak got me back to NYC early yesterday, and baggage claim was the fastest I've seen it, so I got home an hour before I had hoped (two hours before I had kind of expected). I'm mostly caught up on my sleep--mostly--and am doing laundry. Back to work tomorrow.
