The whole Shelke surviving after DC thing is as yet a mystery. Her needing a daily Mako bath is stated as FACT by the writers themselves in the ultimania. It has been speculated that during the time of Omega taking of or being destroyed, the flow of the Lifestream changed due to this event and it may very well have affected her physically. There has been no official clarification as yet. As for the Shalua's legacy thing...that's maybe pushing it. But, Square are capable of ridiculous things *glances at Cait Sith*.

Female SOLDIERs do exist, you just haven't seen them as there has been no need to bring them up. Only a handful of SOLDIERs are actually ever named or shown.

I suppose it is possible but extremely unlikely Seiger knew Usher. Seiger arrived in DG a number of years after Usher died, and had no knowledge of DG prior to that, so there could be no link between him and Usher unless they were REALLY old friends back before Usher went to DG. Seiger has history with Ragnarok, though.

The Usher being the father is my theory. That's probably why you haven't heard it before.

Mm. I don't deny that it's a canon fact, but it's probably the one instance where I will blatantly ignore canon. Most of the time I just bend it. I don't understand how a change in the flow of the Lifestream could affect Shelke, personally. I do agree that Square are capable of ridiculous things.

Yeah, I kind of took the lack of mention as 'there weren't any'. Probably a stupid assumption, but I can't recall even any indication that there might have been women in SOLDIER prior to this confirmation.

Possibility is all I need. :)

He seems a little young to me, but it's hard to judge his age given Square, CG graphics and the fact that his face was mostly covered.

I've updated my TLS post to include some Argento and DG layout stuff. Also found a pic of the game with Argento speaking and the dialogue credited to that spelling. Let me know if you want me to send it as proof of the spelling. :P

Also with regards to Usher, Shelke would only have known him at a young age which explains why he would appear young.

*laughs* OK, OK, I accept that Argento is the canon spelling. Give me a little time to decide whether it's worth it for me to transition to it or whether I'll just stick with my own decision.

Zaz and I discussed it, and in light of that fact we conceded the plausibility of your theory. :D It remains to be seen whether it will enter our headcanon, given the plans that we already have for Usher.
