First day of classes today, and I think my state of mind after my lectures can only be described as 'blissed out'. I love my subjects. The only fly in the ointment is that they haven't quite sorted out the rostering for the college library, so finding a quiet place to study is a task and a half.
First of the formal dinners tonight. In the interests of encouraging people living together to get to know one another, we've been separated into 'hoods. Yes. Hoods. Over dinner we had to come up with a name, a 'Neighbourhood Knight' and a motto. My floor have dubbed themselves 'Black's Army' (after the Master of the College, Rufus Black - awesome guy, I might add) and our motto is 'to serve and protect'. The motto we took more seriously than most, although one group did translate theirs into Latin. I'll be seeing about translating ours when I know enough to do so.
But given the fact that we are Black's Army, and the fact that I turned up to dinner with my book back slung over one shoulder, and the fact that I headed off immediately afterwards to track down another study space, I'm really bracing myself for someone to call me 'Hermione'.
