Anyone good with the finer points of grammar? I've been trying to figure out this phrase nonsense on and off for a couple of hours, and I'm just ending up confused and frustrated. Specifically, I'm confused about where they stop and start -- how deep do you have to go?
Take the sentence 'The boys came from the town', for instance. 'The boys' is obviously a noun phrase. 'Came' is a verb phrase. But what about 'from the town'? It's a prepositional phrase for sure, but doesn't 'the town' count as a noun phrase on its own?
