They went there. I didn't think they'd go there, but they went there. Been deliberately staying off Twitter etc since yesterday because I wanted to be surprised, and yeah, I was surprised alright. Course it doesn't mean Jim B won't be back for a one-off in flashback/dream/dodgy ressurection/whatever but wow. I wonder if that was wise.
Anyways, the first half of the ep, apart from assimilating that Bobby genuinely, actually is dead, I was all, 'Dean, stop being a douche! He was Sam's replacement-daddy too!' And then it seemed like they gave Dean a learning curve of realizing that awful things happen to other people also, and kind of redeemed him by the end of the ep. But for the first time ever, he was mean to a kid! Okay so it turned out the kid was more than a match for him, but still. (And isn't it ironic that after so many failed attempts to find an actor for kid!Dean, they finally got one who would be perfect, but happens to be a girl XD ). I thought it was well-plotted, apart from one bit of narrative compression that rather stretched one's disbelief - (the one guy gets drunk from three times, and is practically dead, Sam gets drunk from twice and is fine? I know Sam probably has rather more blood than the average human, but still, they should've said you needed to be drunk from like six or seven times.) Also, right at the end, what exactly happened? Cos it looked like Sam just jumped out of the car and Dean kept on driving. LOL Editing fail? Overall it was good though. And yay, hiatus over! SPN every weekend! \O/
In other news, had a lovely evening with the girls last night and am gradually acclimatizing Zara to the new cat carrier. She is *very* wary but has gone in once or twice with the bait of treats - after xmas we seem to have an infinite supply, I swear these cats get more presents than I do. Meeting with my supervisor Monday which always makes me nervous. He's pretty hard on his students and will pick up on every possible point of weakness in everything you write, which at the end of the day is what you want in Phd supervisor, but I always come out feeling somewhat discombobulated and have to rethink all my plans about what to do next. He has, however, written some great books and is also a cat person, so I like him.
