Sooo I'm aware I haven't been posting that much - it's the start of a new term, I has new kids to teach on a new course, methodology section to write for the Phd, and sudden unprecedented upsurge in social life - i tend to go through cycles of being incredibly social and holing up in my room reading and growing an academic beard...a metaphorical beard. Of wisdom. Yes. So just a note to say I'm still alive, am okay, the cats are good - their new habit is taking the sealant of the inside of the windows and eating it. Maybe they like the way it feels under their claws, or maybe it tastes good - Sam used to eat paste, given the opportunity, which according to K is because it's made from bonemeal. New housemate is great - really interesting and well-travelled. She's also an S, so we'll call her S2. S2 is the fittest person in the world. Last w/end she helped me mow both lawns - they're small lawns but we don't have a cool mower that picks up the grass as you go, so you have to rake also. Then she said, 'Well, I'm off to salsa classes!' I was like 'Okay...I'm going to...lie down.' LOL. She also horse rides. I did that once, when I was a teenager, but due to my total lack of authoritarianism, the horse very quickly realized he could mess around and do what he wanted. That didn't last long. This Saturday evening I am going to the circus with my two housemates and a guest. Not a cruel circus - no animals except horses. Acrobats and things. My other housemate, also a K, is a genius at finding discount coupons or free trial coupons for things. She just picks them up at random places in town. So sometimes we just do things depending on what we have coupons for :)
Still loving SPN Season 7'?
I am overall, though I think the last one I probably loved the least. I want to know where we're going now. Narratively, I mean. This Colin Ford kid is *such* a good actor though! He does the mannerisms and body language and stuff that adult-Sam does. I was *shocked* when Dean killed Amy. I mean, I know why he did it, and in retrospect I should've seen it coming. But I really jumped. The death-sentence that hangs over shagging Sam Winchester apparently extends to kissing also. (Maybe Dean was jealous XD). The young girl was a good actor also. I missed the initial give-away of the jar of brains on the counter and I believed that she was just talking about having a mum with a bad temper who travels around a lot! Oh, hunter-monster star-crossed romance. Maybe that should be a side story at some point....I mean where the monster doesn't immediately die. . End spoilers.
Finally, and just randomly, I have little time for reading long fic lately - all the books I am reading are part of a carefully-planned, er, plan - but I found this hilarious oneshot by
tigbit the other day:
http://tigbit.livejournal.com/88384.html#cutid1Basically, Paula Deen is Sam and Dean's grandmother. Hilarity ensues. I'm not overly familiar with the redoubtable Ms. Deen, but I followed the link to the video wherein she fries a cheesecake, so yeah, I get the idea.
Oh god, I have to go. Going to the gym before work means I'm supposed to leave in 20 mins and I'm not dressed. Hope all is well, bye for now! x
