Fic Rec!
Not had a lot of time to read Big Bang fics yet, but if you like AU, write_light's Remedy for Cain is excellent. Really rich prose and vivid detail that ekes out some of the mythological resonances in SPN to great advantage. Hell, try it even if you don't like AU - it took me a while to come around to them, and now I can't get enough.
It's a sequel, by the way, to Santa Fe and Iron, which is also very enjoyable, and will add context to the sequel. If you're pushed for time, though, IMO Remedy has the edge.
