[spoilerific ep review]So for me Torn and Frayed was not Spn's finest hour. It got better as it went on - the actual rescue was cool, and though I was disappointed that Samandriel got killed it was a nice twist that I didn't see coming. Plus it's not like death is necessarily permanent on this show (anyone else still holding out for Gabriel to come back? Anyone?). But OhmygodtheSamandAmeliathingissoboring. Their utter lack of chemistry makes me think I'm watching some kind of experimental German modernist drama:
Character A: (Expressionless): We are very much in love and have good sex. Character B: Yes. We really, really are.
I could truly not be less convinced by their onscreen relationship. Dean/Cas and Sam/Ruby set the screen alight. Can we just end this dead-horse plot strand now? Like, instantly? Also, what exactly was Dean so mad with Sam about? I know S was mad because of the fake text message but why the reverse? So yeah. Season 8 started great but it hasn't come back from hiatus with the goods so far. My recommendations: drop Amelia, either drop Benny or do something relevant with him, develop the stuff with Naomi and the heavenly torture chamber, and get back on the tablet plot with Kevin, Mrs. Tran and the Winchesters vs. Crowley and some interesting new villain. Or maybe Crowley and Naomi could be secretly in league or something.
Habibi (and consequently Zara) has been eating Royal Canin hypoallergenic this week. So far so good - no blood or mucus in her stool. It's supposed to meet a cat's complete dietary needs and I suppose it probably does - but it's *so* artificial/synthetic. It's mostly hydrolized soy protein with some hydrolized chicken liver and a shitload of vitamin/mineral supplements to make up a cats' requirements. I don't want to feed it long term because I believe on a gut level a more natural diet is better. I don't know, maybe I'm naive. Plus it's only available in dry so I have to soak it in water to ensure sufficient hydration, and from the cats' reactions I suspect it tastes bland. They don't hate it - they'll eat it okay. But Habibi gets so excited for meat and I'm sorry not to give it to her. So my plan is to keep her on this for the 3 week minimum then start introducing small amounts of a very natural food like Bozita or Nature's Menu (almost all meat, no additives) in chicken variety. I can't argue with the results in the litter tray...but I wouldn't like to feed this to a cat for life. It's like eating dehydrated food packs that contain your RDA of everything and taste okay.
Yesterday and today it snowed. Habibi was quite interested and requested frequent but short trips to the outside run to investigate. Zara preferred to stay in doing this:
