Would anyone be interested in doing a little reading exercise: reading a (very) short bit (no, I mean _really_ short. Like a sentence) in the original? Don't know how many people here read Japanese, but if there are any who do, we could work together to break it down and try and understand something of it, and it might be interesting for those who don't know Japanese to see what the original is like.
I don't know if we'd have any success unless there are ppl here with vastly better Classical Japanese than me, but the attempt might be fun anyway. My own success with reading it has been patchy at best in the past, but I'm certainly willing to try and lead things/explain what I can if anyone's interested.
I have chapters 9 (Aoi) through 20 (Asagao), as well as a small section of 2 (The Broom Tree- the rainy night discussion bit) available in the original & could type up for everyone whatever bit people would want to read. Or I could acquire other sections without too much trouble if there are strong opinions. I'm not sure how I would actually post it, but we can cross that bridge if anyone wants to try this. So?
