Post-D*C Driving Home Recap

So, today we got up & left really early in the morning. Allison drove all day(she wanted to take her car and it is a stick-shift, so we couldn't drive) and Charis & I slept a lot. There was rain from Georgia through most of Mississippi. There was a funny moment when we saw the sign for the Mississippi Welcome Center signs - haven't we been driving through Mississippi for a couple of hours? - but it turned out to be the welcome center at the other border, we were leaving Mississippi. We listened to Stardust - though I kept drifting off to the sounds of Neil Gaiman's voice telling me a story - and I discovered banthas and tauntauns in the animal crackers and we talked about all kinds of crazy things which got reported to Twitter:

Allison & I very strongly dislike the girl in A Knight's Tale, Charis confessed that she mostly just ignores her, so we were talking about just cutting out all the scenes with the girl and Charis commented that it would be like Brave Little Toaster (because I only actually remember 15 minutes of that movie - the good parts version), only she accidentally said "My Little Toaster". We had previously talked about My Little Pony (because of the Bronies at the con) and Cylons being referred to as "toasters" - so we decided that My Little Toaster is a movie about a talking toaster and some ponies, only the toaster wants to destroy the human race and then we find out that all the ponies are Cylons.

At some point in our discussion of Disney princesses, we got talking about Pocahontas and how she really married John Rolfe(whose name we did not remember & I had to look it up on my smartphone, and who apparently was in the sequel, which I never watched purely on principal - Disney sequels are straight-to-video and never any good) and not John Smith and Charis opined that John Smith was a lot like James T. Kirk - always running around seeking out strange new places and new civilizations, boldly going where no man had gone before and hooking up with the local women...

At some point Wuthering Heights came up (we're all a bit delirious from lack-of-sleep and con-high and such things, don't judge us) and we talked about how the people are all horrible and manipulative and want to destroy the happiness of everyone around them, so we came to the conclusion that Heathcliff at least was a Cylon.

We stopped and had lunch at a Cracker Barrel in Vicksburg(I think) and finally got to Allison's apartment at 7:30 Texas time. There was an hour gained or lost at the Georgia border, but I have trouble with timezones on a good day... Also, it is super cold here - highs in the 80s all this week, the low tomorrow is 58!
