So, I was up until 1:10am last night, reading The Queen of Attolia. I probably would have finished the book sooner, but I love being home on Monday nights because that's when all my shows are on(HIMYM, Heroes, Castle, etc) so I didn't read much except during commercial breaks until 10:00, when I read like mad. I also failed to eat a complete dinner because I didn't have time to make myself food because it was suddenly 7pm and from 7pm until 10pm I have shows on that I want to be watching, and after 10 I was reading like a madwoman... I did eat some veggies Mom had cooked and some bread and an apple... I finally stopped reading when I got to the last chapter, because I was too tired to keep my eyes open any more. So, I still have most of a chapter to go before I am completely done.
Anyhow, I think I know, now, why I remembered so little of it - I read it faster than I read Harpist in the Wind, I don't have time to pay attention to what is going on, though I am a little less confused about how things happened, probably because this one isn't a McKillip, so I'm not quite so drunk on the words themselves, and because the gods are less involved in the plot. Still involved, just not so directly; and the other things tend to remain themselves, even if they weren't what you thought, they still are what they are...
Also, in my head Gen is played by David Tennant. It was fascinating to watch him in that role... I have a clear picture of Attolia, too, but I don't recognize her as anyone I've seen before. Eddis is less clear in my mind, but she rather resembles what the mirrors say I look like. Not alot, but we could be mistaken for sisters...
Edit: Just had lunch and finished the book. I think that last chapter is my very favourite(though that may have something to do with reading it slower)! I had five minutes of lunch break left, too, after I finished it. I should have brought King so I could start it, but I didn't think about that this morning when I left the house.
Can't wait to get home and start reading King tonight, which means the afternoon will drag on unbearably...
so little time,
so many books
