As some of you know, I can read things to life. But... I've only read from other's creations. If I could imagine and write up a whole other world, and then make it real.... 
But I really haven't been able to come up with anything that sounds like it'd be from a book, or anything close to it. So, this is why I propose:

And the man, no, the MONSTER Basta, was always engulfed in bad luck. Even a rabbit's foot could not protect him from all the horrible things that awaited him.

And then the fire came and destroyed the Basta-knife because it always protected it's master from freaks who were afraid of mirrors.

Meggie, Silvertongue's daughter, decided to haunt Basta for the rest of his years. She continually pestered him about his looks, knife obsession, and his bad breath. No one would ever love a man cursed by a twelve year old ghost.
