Hi everybody,
first, please excuse the long, long silence on our part. Today,we mainly want to let you all know that Read Lord of the Rings Alound still lives, and will continue to do so! This is such an exceptional project and community, and none of us wants to let it die, despite the occasional shorter or longer *coughs* hiatus the community has seen. (Or can we just say that we operate rather on an Entish kind of schedule? ;o) )
Life has interfered over and over again, but while nothign seemed to happen on the surface,
dreamflower02 and I have been working on various plans and ideas how to keep us alive and floating, and how to adapt to modern devices and other issues. Due to the changes in our mutual real and fandom lives, dreamflower and I agreed that from now on, I,
ysilme, will take over as the main responsible person for the community. Furthermore,
vaysh has joined us as staff to the community. *throws confetti* \O/
In the next few days, a new reading announcement will come up. We're also working in the background at saving all the old readings, just in case something happens to this place, and are investigating alternatives for recording, storing and listening where they might come in handy, or become necessary. We're also planning to re-record all readings that have gone missing through technical glitches or deleted journals over time, as the main goal of the community still stands: to have, in the end, a complete reading of the Lord of the Rings, done by us all, the fans, as a community.
We would love to hear from you all! Let us know if you're still there, stil interested in reading, listening, or both, or perhaps want to join us as a new reader. If you're still reading this entry but plan to delete or close your journal, it would be lovely if you'd let us know so we could save your readings. Likewise, if you know of somebody who deleted their journal and have done readings in the past, and have means to contact them, it would be lovely if you asked them to contact us about their readings. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Edit to add: we now know that doing voice posts is no longer possible at LJ, the feature seems to have gone. We're investigating other easy options for recording, and would love to hear if you already have tried out alternatives or are using them.
