I'd like to sign-up for one slot. If you need another slot to be filled, please let me know. I can easily read two slots if needs must.
Do you want me to send you my readings, which are stored on my own website, so you can upload it to the tindeck account? Or is there a way I can upload them myself to the tindeck account?
Thank you so much, Winterwitch, for gifting the lifelong membership to this community and to the project of Reading LotR Aloud. It's simply awesome to have the site as a storage- and backup space.
Thanks, that's great! I'll look into the uploading of old readings after my vacation, as well as on the password thingy. It would be ideal if everybody could upload their own readings, of course, but I would like to check with people who have experience with this first to see if there are any pitfalls I should be aware of. But there is no need in sending them to me; I can download them all myself if necessary, which might be easier.
Here is your assignment. Since I was late getting them out, we are pushing the due date up to the 25th, and you may begin your reading at any time before that

As usual, I'm in, and will fill as many slots as you need me to fill. Since I prefer the sound quality of doing my own recording, I'm fine with continuing to do my readings that way.
I uploaded my file to Box.com last time, but storage is limited for a free account so I won't be able to use it indefinitely. It would be easier if we could eventually upload to the Tindeck account ourselves, but I'm fine with Winterwitch storing our readings there for us, and thank her for the lifetime membership.
Thank you! I hope it will eventually be possible to upload for everybody themselves on tindeck, but for one, I don't know if this is possible by apps - I haven't seen anything so far. You also would need to have your file either recorded as MP3 right away, or converted into MP3, as tindeck only allows MP3 files. You said you were using some voice recording app, do I remember correctly? If yes, perhaps you can change the settings to MP3, which has the advantage of producing much smaller file sizes, so the uploading goes faster. If you can't, don't worry; I can always proceed as I did already, which is downloading your wav, converting it and uploading it. I did it for you reading of last month, you can see it here. You can use any of the code provided on that page to replace your box com-reading in your entry with it if you click on "get embed code/link". If you want to use the embedded mp3 player like I did use the code for the Embedded Player on the bottom of the page

I'm in, and happy to do more readings as you need. I love what I get to learn about Tolkien's language by reading it aloud.
I haven't been listening because my macbook speakers suck and time is always running out on me, such that I'm not even doing up my entries with links back like i used to. Now that I have a new laptop, I still plan to sit down and go back and start listening from the beginning and leaving comments. I continually feel guilty I don't leave the encouragement I've been given by other readers here. I'm sorry--and will try to make my amends one day. Thanks for keeping us going and looking into new options.
I'm sorry to hear you had so many technical problems, but I'm really happy that you stick with read_lotr_aloud despite them and are going to catch up! I've been late this time as well, since I cannot listen with headphones and did not have leisure for listening aloud until the next time I had laundry to fold. *g* I don't know how far you want to go back, but we're going to have a sticky post put up soonish where the links to all the chapters are collected. We also found some of the old readings are missing, since Journals have been deleted, and plan to do re-recordings of the missing readings, so we will have eventually the whole Lord of the Rings recorded somewhere as our joint project. This idea is so cool - I am continually in awe that the project still lives and persisted for such a long time already, which shows how dedicated you all have been and still are. ♥

I think it would be great if we could upload our recordings ourselves but if that's not possible I'm happy to have them uploded to the tindeck account.
Thank you! The uploading will eventually be possible for yourselves, but I have to learn a bit more about how it works first, and find out if there are things that could go wrong and such. ;o) I'm very much a beginner with podficcing and voice recording myself.

Gollum looked up. A dark water was before him, and he was crawling on the ground, this way and that, doubtful of the way. ‘Yes, they are all round us,’ he whispered. ‘The tricksy lights. Candles of corpses, yes, yes. Don’t you heed them! Don’t look! Don’t follow them! Where’s the master

Signing up for one slot as well! I'll be away without internet from tomorrow until the 13th or 14th and get back to you all then, if I don't manage right away.
