Chapter Title: The Second Kiss
.
Ever since he had almost kissed her in his car, he detected a little more than just tension between them.
Ever since he had almost kissed her in his car, he detected a little more than just tension between them. He was pretty sure she hated him more now than before the school year had started. Perhaps if he kissed her again, she may come over to his side. He was a catch, and he knew it, and it was definitely worth a try.
Chelsea peaked behind the library’s shelves, trying to get a good look at her project partner. Anna and Lizzy had told her to go tell Mr. Gilbert, her math teacher, that she wanted to changer partners, but she had insisted that she would be fine. And she was fine, though she wanted to kiss him again which was why she was hiding and keeping a good distance away from him.
She headed back towards the computer quickly, turning herself away from the sight of Damien. She turned, however, a little too quickly, and her foot twisted in her high heeled shoe, and she fell. Thank god, no one was there to see the humiliating fall. She rubbed her ankle, trying to pat out the pain.
She must have been sitting there for a few minutes, when she heard something move behind her. She began to get up, and when she turned around, she saw:
“Carter?” she said in surprise when she actually looked at the owner of the footsteps she had heard.
“Hey Dauner, you okay? Need any help?”
“Not from you.” She spat out, trying to put some belligerence in her voice.
“Well, it’s the least I could do, after you know…um… how you helped me yesterday.”
Yesterday. It made her think about the kiss again. He was so close to her. Her heart continued racing, but she could no longer tell whether it was anger or attraction. The scent of his cologne drifted to her nose. Does he always smell so good? she thought, feeling that she was going into sensory overload.
“Earth to Dauner!! Earth to Chels-” he started, but she cut him off.
Her mouth crashed down on his lips furiously at first, but then he began to respond, and she allowed him to explore her mouth delighting at the sensations he was sending through her. It made her wonder why she hadn’t let him kiss her yesterday. Nothing made sense anymore and nothing really mattered, not even the fact that she was suppose to detest him, loathe him.
Damien slid his hand around her waist and adjusted himself so that he was on top. He wasn’t sure how long he was kissing, but he didn’t care.
But suddenly, there teacher’s voice burst out in the library and reality came crashing down on them, her especially,
“Ten minutes until the end of class. Save your work, and regroup your strategy with your partner.”
Opening her eyes, she broke the kiss, and shoved off Carter, with a little too much force causing her partner to yelp, and pretty much ran to her computer where she had been working before.
She hadn’t even looked at him when she walked away, and Damien stared after her with bewilderment and awe upon his face.
He had wanted to be the one who had wanted to steal another kiss, and she had completely surprised him by taking over.
The pressure of her lips on his felt so wonderful, he almost thought it was a dream. Unfortunately, she had broken the kiss, and had simply walked away.
Damien wasn’t quite sure how to take that.
He was pretty sure that the only reason she had broken the kiss was because the teacher had called out the almost end of class. At least, he hoped that was the only reason. It would be difficult to believe that she wasn’t enjoying it as much as he had. Right? The arrogantly confident star athlete of his high school was suddenly doubtful of his own abilities.
He’d never had any complaints before, but this whole month since the beginning of the September had been different. He’d heard more criticism and seen more images proving that he wasn’t as satisfying as he thought and that was a pretty depressing thought.
But right now, that kiss had just left him wanting more. Chelsea was addicting, and he was addicted, plain and simple. He didn’t know what he should do now. He had no idea if she reciprocated his feelings at all, which was very different from all his previous relations.
He knew she must feel something, because otherwise why had she kiss him? Was she only filled with curiosity, like he had felt initially? Now that she had kissed him, had she satisfied that curiosity? Would she want anything more to do with him?
He was going to have to rectify that. He was a star, and whatever he wanted, he got. And he wanted Chelsea Dauner.
........
I kissed Carter!
“I kissed Carter!!” she blurted out at lunch while sitting with Jenna and Matt.
They looked at one another before looking at her, “We know. You showed us the picture remember?”
“No. no…no…no… Not then. I just kissed him. Today in math. I belong in a mental asylum. I don’t know what came over me.”
Why had she done it?
She had really wanted to kiss him again. She had wanted to kiss him in the car yesterday, and she had gotten obsessed with it. She just wanted to get it out of her system, that’s all. Right?
Well, she hadn’t gotten it out of her system.
Not by a long shot.
Effing hell.
Matt was smiling oddly at her. “So, you kissed him? As in - you initiated it?”
She nodded slowly. “What was I thinking?”
“I don’t know,” Jenna answered teasingly. “What were you thinking? I thought you said he was a bad kisser? What ever would prompt you to kiss an already decidedly bad kisser?”
Chelsea either ignored or failed to pick up on her sarcasm.
“I don’t know,” she said tiredly. “I think I need to go to home. ”
She still had a dazed look as she headed to her next class and couldn’t wait for the school day to end.
