Title: Failed Proposal? (Sidestory to
Baby Before Wedding)
Pairing: Yewook, mentioned Kyumin and Eunhae
Word Count: 2080
Summary: For 2 weeks, Yesung’s been carrying around this box, waiting for the perfect moment…
After the wedding, Yesung and Ryeowook went back to their shared apartment. Ryeowook went into the bedroom and changed out of her bridesmaid dress while Yesung rested on the couch, his jacket hanging on the chair along with his tie. The top few buttons were undone. He watched as Ryeowook came back out, dressed in a large t-shirt and shorts and went into the kitchen. He followed Ryeowook to see her busy, preparing food.
“Babe, what are you doing?”
“Making dinner.”
“Dinner but we just ate at the reception.”
“Yeah but I need to make lunch and dinner for tomorrow. I’m going to be working late. I don’t want you to starve.”
Yesung frowned. He fingered the small velvet box in his pants pocket. He glanced at his busy girlfriend, humming as she cooked.
He stalked into their bedroom and collapsed on the bed. He took the box and tucked it safely away in his nightstand. He slipped out of his shirt and pants and slipped under the covers. The day’s activities and all his worries over the little box caught up with him, effectively putting him to sleep.

Yesung woke up to find Ryeowook gone. A note was placed on the pillow next to him.
Yesungie, I left for work. I didn’t want to wake you. I’m working late again.
Your lunch is in the refrigerator. Dinner is in the bowl covered with foil. Just reheat it in the microwave. Remember to remove the foil before placing it in the microwave. I don’t want to come back to another house filled with burnt smoke and a broken microwave.
I’ll call you around lunchtime so make sure your phone is on. I love you ♥ ~ Your Wookie :D
Yesung smiled. He pulled out a box from his desk drawer and dropped the note in, alongside other notes from over the years. He quickly showered and changed. He went over to the nightstand and took out the box. He slipped it into his pocket and went into the kitchen.
He found breakfast sitting on the table. He quickly reheated it before sitting down to eat. He took his lunch and left for work.

Yesung was completely absorbed in work when his phone rang. He jumped before scrambling for his phone. He answered on the second ring.
“Hello?”
“Hi sweetie. How’s work?”
Yesung smiled. “Hi, babe. It’s good. I have tons of paperwork though. How’s work? Why’d you leave early?”
Ryeowook chuckled. “I have my reasons. Work is good. I have a lot to do so I can’t talk long. I just wanted to check on you. Make sure you eat lunch now or you’ll forget. I love you. I’ll see you when I get home. Wait up for me?”
“Always. I love you too, Wookie.” Ryeowook smiled and hung up. Yesung put his phone away and brought out his lunch.
He opened it up and smiled. Ryeowook had arranged the food in the shape of a heart. He took a bite and moaned. Ryeowook always made such delicious food.
He was too busy devouring his food to notice he had a guest.
“Ahem!” Yesung glanced up, food in his mouth, to see Kyuhyun and Sungmin watching him. He quickly swallowed his food and looked at them.
“Yes? What did you two want?”
Sungmin smiled and sauntered into the room, leaving Kyuhyun to close and lock the door. They both sat in the chairs opposite Yesung’s desk.
“So have you asked her yet?”
Yesung glared at Sungmin. “No, not yet.”
“Why not? You’ve been carrying that ring with you for 2 weeks now. Ask her already.”
“It’s not that easy.”
“But it could be. You just need the confidence, right?”
“I have that. It’s just that she comes home late and leaves early. How am I ever going to have time to propose to her?”
Sungmin sighed. “You make plans. DUH!” She abruptly stood up and began pacing. “Gawd, don’t screw up all my hard work. Do you know how much effort I’ve put into getting you two together? And now it’s all going to crumble right before my eyes.” She collapsed back into the chair. “Kyuhyun, explain to him. I can’t speak to him right now.”
Kyuhyun, after checking to make sure Sungmin was okay, turned towards Yesung. “Look, hyung, you and Ryeowook are perfect for each other. You guys should be getting married but like a coward, you haven’t asked her yet. And don’t give excuses. If you used that brain of yours, you wouldn’t have any problems or worries over the ring. Just invite her out to dinner and propose.”
“No. It has to be something special. I don’t want a normal, ordinary proposal. I want it to be memorable.”
“It will be memorable, no matter what you do.”
“No, it has to be special.”
“How special do you want it?” Yesung and Kyuhyun turned to look at Sungmin. “How special do you want the proposal? I can help you if you want.”
“As much as I would like to take that offer, for it to really be special, I have to plan it out myself.”
“Fine. You better know what you’re doing. Don’t ruin this. You’ll lose the best thing that ever happened to you if you do.”
Sungmin and Kyuhyun walked out of his office, leaving Yesung alone to contemplate his thoughts. He got up from his desk and looked out the window. He had a nice view of the city below.
Yesung fingered the ring in his pocket and let his thoughts wander.

Ryeowook was working hard, trying to get her work done, when her phone rang. She glanced at the ID and frowned.
“Hello? Is something wrong?”
“What? No, no, nothing’s wrong. I was just wondering when you’ll be home.”
“Not for a while. I have a lot of work to do.” Ryeowook heard someone call her name. “I’ll be right there. Sorry sweetie but I need to go. They need me. I’ll see you when I get home. I love you.”
She hung up the phone and turned to the person calling her name.
“What are you doing here?”
“I’m here for some answers.”
“Sorry Sungmin but I’m busy. I have a lot of work I need to do.”
“Yeah, why is that? Why are you so busy all of a sudden? You don’t have to work this hard.”
“Oh but I do.”
“Why?”
“That’s for me to know and you to find out. So if you’ll excuse me, I need to get going. Oh and please try to refrain from interfering Ms. Matchmaker.” Ryeowook smiled and rushed off, leaving Sungmin standing there, stunned.

Ryeowook came home to a quiet house. She put her stuff on the table and wandered into the kitchen to find Yesung asleep at the table.
She smiled to herself, looking at her sleeping boyfriend. He’s so cute. Totally adorable when he’s sleeping.
She walked over and gently shook him away. He didn’t make any moves. Ryeowook sighed then smiled. She leaned down and gave him a kiss.
He stirred and opened sleepy eyes to peer at Ryeowook. A smile graced his lips.
“Hi beautiful.”
“Hi sweetie. Come on, let’s go to bed.”
“Alright.” Yesung sleepily got up and with the help of Ryeowook, walked to their bedroom. He collapsed onto their bed and fell instantly asleep.
Ryeowook changed out of her clothes and into her pajamas before slipping under the covers with Yesung.
He instinctively curled his arms around her and pulled her into his embrace. She snuggled into his arms and slept, letting all her stress melt away.

Yesung woke up to find Ryeowook asleep in his arms. He slipped quietly out of bed, careful not to disturb Ryeowook, and slipped into the kitchen.
Thankfully, he was smart enough to make breakfast last night so all he had to do was quietly reheat the food. He arranged it all prettily on a tray and carried it into the bedroom.
He placed it on the nightstand and sat on the bed. He gently shook Ryeowook awake.
She sleepily rubbed her eyes and saw Yesung smiling at her. She sat up and smiled, giving him a light kiss.
“Morning.”
“Morning, beautiful. I made breakfast.” Yesung reached over and placed the tray on Ryeowook’s lap. She smiled at the effort Yesung made.
“Aww thanks, sweetie.” She leaned over and kissed Yesung before digging into the food.
She smiled. “This is so good. When did you learn to cook like this?”
Yesung blushed. “While you were busy with work, I took the time to learn cooking. You can ask Sungmin or Eunhyuk about it. They were my guinea pigs.”
Ryeowook giggled. “Well looks like all your hard work paid off. This is delicious. Maybe I can have you make dinner for us sometimes instead of me all the time.”
“If you want.”
Ryeowook smiled and ate her food. Yesung watched and nervously fingered the box in his pockets.
“Oppa, what are you doing?” Yesung caught Ryeowook looking at his hand and quickly moved his hand. But he wasn’t quick enough to move away. Ryeowook had a grip on his wrist.
She pulled him back to her and reached her hand into his pocket. She pulled out the small velvet box.
“Yesung, what is this?”
Yesung blushed. “Uhh…welll…it’s…it’s…oh, what the hell…” He grabbed the box and opened it up, showing off a beautiful diamond ring. “Ryeowook, I love you so much. Will you marry me?”
Ryeowook smiled. “Of course I will.” She moved the tray out of the way and flung herself into Yesung’s arms, capturing his lips for a loving kiss.
“Finally, you asked me. I’ve been waiting for so long.”
Yesung looked shocked. “Wait what?”
Ryeowook smiled. “I found that box 2 weeks ago.”
“What?!?!?”
“Yeah, I accidentally found it when I was cleaning. I went to put something in your nightstand and found the small box. Don’t worry,” Ryeowook smiled, “I didn’t open the box so I didn’t know how big the ring was. It’s pretty big by the way.”
Yesung smiled.
“Well I found the ring and figured since you were going to ask me to marry you, I should start working a lot so I could take more time off later.”
“WHAT?!?!?! You intentionally worked late? How could you?”
Ryeowook laughed. “So we could take a month long honeymoon, or longer if you want.” She wrapped her arms around Yesung’s neck and pulled him down on top of her.
“We can take a nice long honeymoon to some tropical place or any place and just spend the whole time in our hotel room, with champagne and strawberries.”
Yesung smiled. “Mmm…that sounds nice.” He kissed her lips then her neck. “So when did you want to get married?”
“Would tomorrow be soon enough?”
“Sorry but no can do. But I can probably arrange for your wedding to take place in 2 weeks at the earliest.”
Yesung and Ryeowook turned towards their bedroom doorway to see Sungmin, Kyuhyun, Eunhyuk, and Donghae smiling at them.
“WTH!?!?!?!”
“Language, language. The kids are here. We’re all waiting in your living room for a celebration party.”
“How did you guys even get in here?”
“Spare key.” Sungmin dangled the spare key in her hands.
“Why are you guys here so early? Can’t you let us have some alone time?”
“I’m giving you guys 10 minutes to shower and get dressed. Then you need to come out so we can celebrate and finalize wedding plans. I take it you guys want to marry as soon as possible.” Sungmin grinned. “Now get ready. We’ll be waiting.” She closed the door, leaving the two lovebirds in peace…for now.
“Gawd, why is she here? Why is everyone here? I thought I could have you all to myself today.”
Ryeowook giggled. “It’s okay. You can have me all to yourself on our honeymoon and all the days to come. Remember, now that we’re getting married, I’m never letting you go.”
“I hope not.” Yesung smiled and captured Ryeowook’s lips for a kiss.
A knock on the door broke them apart. “I don’t hear you guys showering. Remember, you only have 9 minutes now.”
Yesung growned as Ryeowook giggled. “Come on, let’s go. Don’t want to keep Sungmin waiting.”
Ryeowook pulled Yesung into the shower where they had a little fun before joining their friends in their living room to celebrate their upcoming marriage.
A/N: I feel bad for this ending XD I was going to end it earlier but then I wanted to add Sungmin into the end and then I dragged it out a little too much that I couldn’t find a good way to end it XD
Now for the Kyumin sidestory. Btw, let me know if you want a Yewook wedding XD (sorry Yewook is my OTP so I think I’ll use any chance to write them. Besides I haven’t had a chance to write that many Yewook XD)
