Hannibal can't sleep.

Well, that's normal.

At the moment, though, he's dealing with this fact in a novel fashion: Villiers.

It's four AM. He picks the lock near-silently, grins to himself, and slips inside.

gverse, villiers

Fortunately (or unfortunately?) Villiers is asleep.

Sound asleep. Sleeping just a little restlessly from the looks of it, but sleeping nonetheless.

He takes a seat by the bedside, in a conveniently located armchair, and watches.

It could almost be sweet, really.

Almost.

Eight-hour periods of time -- that's how Villiers sleeps. Over the years, working with M at all hours of the day, he's learned to appreciate his sleep. And can do so, at any time of day; but he will always keep his eight hours.

You're lucky, Hannibal. Villiers tends to make an early morning of it.

You've only a little while to wait.

For the moment, though, he turns restlessly in his sleep.

When he wakes up, then, there's a Hannibal in that chair still: perfectly still, eyes closed, hands together in his lap with fingers steepled.

He's not sleeping.
