Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Without the Keyblade, Sora doesn't have any special abilities or powers. He's a master swordsman (keysman?) and can use magic and various special swordplay (keyplay?) techniques, but his "superhuman" ability probably comes from the fact that he wields the Keyblade. So, without it...he's more or less a normal kid. He's very physically fit; in swordplay he focuses on power strikes instead of speed, unusual for his physical build, though he still is pretty fast. WITH the Keyblade, Sora can unlock...pretty much anything. The Keyblade is a sort of ultimate weapon in that it can hit and defeat any supernatural creature that sometimes normal weapons can't even touch. He can, to an extent, use the power of Light; not by itself, typically only as a burst of light when finishing an attack combination.
Back to the Keyblade. How hax is it? PRETTY DAMN HAX. When I say that Sora can take down pretty much any supernatural being or creature, I mean ANY. He defeats GODS, like Hades and Chernabog. He can go toe-to-toe with and defeat legendary swordsmen of the Final Fantasy series, namely Leon (Squall, FFVIII), Cloud, and Sephiroth (both of FFVII). He also has incredible stamina to have gone through a battle of 1000 Heartless and not slowed or to not have had a break.
Sora is also fairly adept at magic, mostly offensive. His clothes give him the Drive Form ability, making him able to focus on specific types of fighting, whether purely physical, purey magical, a mix of both, or ultimate strength of everything.

Weapons: his Keyblade, the "Kingdom Key", which looks simple enough but is pretty hax

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Oh jeez. WELL since it's extremely lengthy, I'm going to do the smart/lazy thing and link you to his fan wiki page.

Point in Canon: post-KHII/Blank Points, having decided to go on yet another journey!

Character Personality:
Sora is a typical shounentard: pure-hearted, heroic, sincere, naive, confident, trusting, helpful, devoted to his friends, optimistic, brave, and a bit simple-minded. One thing that sets Sora apart from a lot of other characters of the same archetype is his unrelenting sense of justice; he'll willingly fight a possessed best friend knowing he might hurt said friend or sacrifice himself if it's for the greater good. But he doesn't make these decisions with cold logic, but BIG heart. And that big heart of his has so much room for friends that you have to wonder how the kid does it; not only does he befriend and fight for pretty much everyone he meets, but he has no trouble forgiving his best friend for their grievances and blows in KH1. This capacity for forgiveness is almost as boundless as his compassion; not only does he forgive friends, but sworn enemies. He looks down on cowardice and selfishness and doesn't easily give someone with those qualities a second chance. He usually trusts in his friends to do the right thing, but if they don't, he is more than willing to knock some sense back into them. For all his good nature, he's NOT a pushover and will fight back in kind when pressed - whether friendly competition or genuine opposite sides of huge...hearts war...thing. Generally, he's really energetic and endlessly friendly.

It seems that an attitude that bright almost is obligated to come with childishness, naivete, gullibility, impulsiveness, and a certain...dim bulb quality in some areas. Probably due to his rivalry with Riku from a small age, Sora can't seem to resist backing down from any kind of competition or opportunity to show off in physical feats. Thankfully he's not overly boastful if he wins and he's not a sore loser. He also still has child-like fascination and love of pirates and Santa Claus among other things, and easily trusts and believes what others tell him. However, once he deems you an enemy or untrustworthy, he will be overly cynical of anything they say and not believe a word, where with anyone else he would do so without a second thought. He can hold grudges and not trust someone who's proven themselves to deserve it for a long time, though he still has the capacity for forgiveness. Sora's also not particularly modest; he has a temper and when provoked enough will dish out (very mild) insults, he has a bad habit of being too casual in front of people who are supposed to receive automatic respect, like Queen Minnie and the great Yen Sid, and isn't shy about telling someone in most worlds he goes to that he's the Big Bad Good Keyblade Master.

Character Plans: Sora's not thrilled to be whisked away from home when he only just got back after nearly two years. He's used to world-hopping, so he'll adjust quickly enough, even if Siren's Port is a darker setting than most places he's been to. He'll probably try to become a healer at the Skye Medical Clinic; in all technicality, he's no doctor, but he'd offer his healing magic to help others. In the meantime, being super social and trying to find a way out, etc.

Appearance/PB: default and two (always with shoes bigger than his head, what's with that)

Writing Samples

First Person Sample

[hello, Siren's Port! there's a shounentard you may or may not recognize with the biggest gravity-defying hair you've ever seen, considering the video feed rather unhappily.]

Y'know? You'd think the King would've given me more warning about sending me somewhere else. I mean, I only just got his message. No time to prepare? No saying bye to my friends? I only just got back.

[frown, then a defeated sigh] Look, if anyone's listening - could you let me in on where this is? And if you see a guy called Mickey - he's a giant talking mouse, kinda hard to miss - tell him Sora's looking for him.

[the frown deepens] I didn't even get to say goodbye. I just hope they're still back there.

Third Person Sample

"I'll get you this time, Riku!"

His best friend's arrogant smirk only spurred Sora on; he could practically feel the adrenalin surging to his head and giving him the thrill of the fight as he adopted a cocky grin to match.

As always, Riku stood completely relaxed, wordlessly provoking Sora into coming to him. This would not be a routine Sora would break...this time. He was determined to beat Riku, the best swordfighter of all the islands - for the guts, for the glory, and the g--

Oh, crap. Kairi's watching. Sora was already halfway through his first lunge when he saw her coming over the bridge, smiling and looking as pretty as ever. Time seemed to slow as he felt himself lose his footing due to the momentary lapse in concentration. All he could think was 'not now!', and he lowered his stance and pivoted to strike a lower blow. The sudden change in aim seemed to have caught his sparring partner off-guard as well; Riku met and parried flawlessly as ever, then jumped back to give more distance...and perhaps to regain footing. Sora stumbled and nearly fell forwards, but righted himself and grinned again.

"Weren't expecting THAT, were you?" he taunted.

The smirk was back. It was enough of an answer, a challenge, an invitation. Sora was about to grip his small wooden sword for another attack when he blinked - Riku was gone. Sora's mind raced; Riku's speed was his great advantage, and it was hard to not panic when one knew how he could devastate you if you weren't paying attention.

Sora rolled to the left and put a coconut tree to his back and looked around - Riku was closing in, fast, on his right. There was hardly any time to think, to react to Riku already being almost on top of him when Kairi once again was in his sight, already grimacing at what they all knew was coming.

Well...having her clean up his scrapes wasn't a bad second place prize.
