Why is it that I can hear everyone else except him? I don't want to hear them. I'd silence them all if I could, but even if everything was quiet I still wouldn't be able to hear him. It's all your fault.

[Jaime curls his fingers around Ronan's side. good luck getting that reply, though. he might actually find he can hear less, come to think of it...]

[he rests his good fingers on the scar where the scarab was taken out that one time, tapping thoughtfully.]

It would be really easy. I could slip my fingers under the skin and pull you out without him even noticing. But that might kill him and I can't have that. I just need to silence you forever, so be good and let me fix things.

[he sure is trying to mindwipe the scarab and making it an inert piece of tech.]

[and his eyes immediately snap open, going yellow as he tries to reign it in]

Don't you touch him!

[nope, he's going into seizures on the floor.]

[his feet hit the floor, and Ronan can probably hear him reaching around for something.]

[he can! and is even thinking of sitting up at some point. stupid scarab trying to get in the way.]

[there's a clatter as he finally grabs something off the table, a rustle, then the beginnings of something quiet and wet.]

[he sits up and watches. this is cool.]

[his arms are at awkward angles, and he's holding something long and sharp -- the end reaching just far enough to begin carving into his back. he can't quite seem to find the right angle, and his teeth clench while he keeps adjusting and readjusting as if searching for something.]

I'm not gonna let it--

[his teeth clench harder, and he shifts his grip.]

I'll fix it. It's not gonna-- I'll fix it and then it won't--

[his eyes go yellow again, and the edge scrapes down his back in a long, ragged streak of blood.]
