A delivery truck drove by, passing the window of a small, dimly lit café that was quite empty at the moment except for a few people. One boy sat in an isolated area, talking to someone over a phone. By the counter was a lady in her mid-thirties with a child in a stroller paying for her drink. The girl at the counter smiled and waited for the lady to pay. Two business men sat in the comfortable couches provided, one talking while the other flipped through a packet that was given to him.
One Fuji Syusuke looked out the window at the passing traffic, eyes flickering at the many people who filled the busy streets. A white dog ran around a medium sized tree nearby, tangling herself up as the little girl who was holding onto the leash giggled at the dog’s antics. Not far off, Fuji spotted a couple hugging each other, whispering sweet nothings. At the opposite side of the street, he spotted a young man escorting an old man as they crossed the road.
Evenly timed clicks of someone walking on heels got louder as Fuji observed the people outside if the shop. The footsteps stopped abruptly at his table just as the honey-haired man bent down to slurp at his bubble tea. He looked up to see his girlfriend stare at him blankly, and waved for her to sit. The woman sat. “Aya-chan, did you order something already?” he asked lightly.
She shook her head, making her black hair sway a bit; her arms were crossed, patiently waiting for Fuji to give her his full attention. Fortunately, the wait wasn’t long as Fuji sensed something amiss. “What’s wrong?”
“Syusuke, my parents are asking when we are getting married.”
Fuji froze slightly, coughing to buy him time to regain his posture. “Oh?”
Hanajima Aya leaned forward, her elbows resting on the table while her finger tapped lightly. “Oh? Is that all you have to say?”
“…What do you want me to say then?” Fuji’s smile became strained when the tapping stopped, and Aya started staring at him hard.
“You’re always like this, Syusuke. You already know what I want to say.”
Fuji sighed, and responded firmly, “Look, Aya, we’ve been through this before. I don’t think I’m ready to make a decision that could change the rest of my life.” He glanced out at the window again, just in time to see a pigeon fly off. “It’s too early…” He turned, giving his girlfriend an apologetic smile, waiting for her to speak.

That, is but the first page of the prologue (which is three pages long, so far). I am working on chapter one, and hopefully I can make this fic/idea work. xD
