Pike's skin is hot.
Not warm, or feverish - but hot. When he presses his ash creased hands to Kirk's skin he can trace the trajectory of Pike's touch later, in the reddening that comes after, the aggrieved flesh rising in hectic hues, brightening in the flood of angry blood.
His kiss is its own kind of burn, tinged with the acid bitterness of charcoal, blackening Kirk's teeth and streaking his lips, splitting them with inhuman teeth. Kirk wonders if Pike can taste it, the deaths his kind have met under Kirk's hands, the twisted necks and crushed ribs, the leathery-wings he staked to the ground with spears and the hearts he pierced with long knives (the jealously that drives him to tear down those things that fly).
Pike looks human, not because he is, but because he wants to, and even that is too generous. Pike's nature bleeds through in the way he moves, the flex of muscle drawn tight and resentful across human proportions. Sometimes his flesh rebels, the jagged ridge of his spine growing spiky and strange under Kirk's sweat-salty hands, while behind his eyes slides the monstrous shadow of murderous appetites, fire and blood, the crack of bone and desire for the sky.
Pike calls him killer in the dark, and presses his mouth to Kirk's scars, the hot bite of his tongue scraping a dangerous, violent kind of love across what must be corpse-cool flesh, while Kirk shouts and digs his fingers into hips as hard as sun-scorched stone.
