Star Trek WIP Meme

Post a paragraph from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one paragraph!

1.
They stumble through the the house, fingers greedily rifling through each other's clothes, necking awkwardly as they bump into shit, sloshing cheap booze across the wooden floors. Jim laughs, whiskey spilling down the front of his shirt and Leonard has real fucking reservations about this, serious doubts about whether they'll pull this off without setting themselves on fire.

*
2.
Kodos chooses them because they are special. That is what he says when Jim survives another simulation, when Carol vomits blood and Thomas starts seeing things, when Gary screams as his eyes turn silver and Kevin assembles a sub-space communicator with two broken fingers - when Lenore poisons the guard in their fifth attempt at escape.

*
3.
Jim's blank face stutters into something tight and furious before he takes back the PADD, stylus flying across the screen as he taps out rapid commands, ignoring Leonard's answering scowl. His anger and concern a non-entity in Jim's desperate little world of schematic distraction. And isn't that just like them, one always deflecting sideways when the other tries to steer forward. Never looking in the same direction at the same time.

4.
“Sulu. If you die? I will fuck Chekov.” Dramatic pause. “In the Chair.”

*
5.
James T. Kirk knows that out in the black only two things are absolutely certain: claustrophobic boredom, and inexplicable weirdness. The boredom Jim can handle. He's got a big ass ship, a genius IQ and a complete disregard for Starfleet protocol in the face of potential hilarity. Shit ensues when Jim Kirk is bored and it is glorious. The weirdness though, that's where stuff gets ungodly fucking complicated.

*
6.
It is easy to forget that James T. Kirk is a genius. That he is not merely given to intuitive leaps and flourishes of fortuitous insight, but is in fact genuinely gifted. It is his nearly unbearable exuberance, Spock believes, that allows their attention to be drawn away from the reality of Jim's singular intellect with such ease. Jim's fierce and uncomplicated joy at attaining his goals is a distracting spectacle. Spock maintains a private query about the nature of that spectacle.

7.
Christopher isn't ready for the desert. For the hot press of a blue sky and the momentary pleasure of starry nights. He isn't ready to be grounded by age and distinction, constrained in a million ordinary ways while new ideas and fresh minds punch through Earth's gravity without him.
