Remember how last year around this time Mark and I made a 4 track christmas cd and handed it out to all y'all? Well we decided to do it again, this time with the help of a few more friends. It's all done and I've already handed out a few copies. I'll probably bring a stack to Evergreen tonight at church on the hill. If your not planning on going tonight, and you want a copy, you can get one from Chris Kretsu or Mark Stickney as well. Anyway here's the track listing:

1. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Mark S.
2. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Aaron C.
3. Last Christmas - Jonathan T.
4. The First Noel - Mark S.
5. O Come Emmanuel - Chris K.
6. Silent Night - Aaron C.
7. A Mobile Sky Tree Christmas - Mobile Sky Tree
8. Coming Home For Christmas - Matt W. #2
9. Merry Christmas, You Don't Have To Like It - Chris K.
10. My December - Jonathan T.
11. Away In A Manger - Aaron C.
12. The Gift - Chris K.
13. Christmas Might Not Be So Merry - Aaron C.
14. O Holy Night - Chris K.
15. Hark, The Herald Angels Sing (Live) - Jonathan T.

There are no liner notes in this cd per se...so I thought I'd give credit to people who's music I stole here, and maybe tell you about each of the tracks.

Last Christmas -
This song was written by Wham sometime in the eighties, I'm not sure exactly when. It's best/worst quality, depending on who you ask, is that it was originally sung by George Michaels. Anyway, I created all the music/beats in Reason using the Midi controller I bought last year around this time. Scott recorded the vocals. The vocals didn't come out as nice as I had hoped, but its not Scotts fault. His computer crapped out and we lost the files before we had a chance to fix the parts that didn't turn out that great (particularly the ending). Like everything else I do, this CD was kinda last minute so we didn't have time to start over again. Luckily, we had one burned copy of the song, totally unmixed/mastered, ...anyway thats what made it on the CD.

My December -
Yes, its a Linkin Park song. I am probably all alone on this one, but I like Linkin Park. I guess that probably makes me less cool. Oh well. Anyway, for this song I did things a little different. Every sound you here on this track was created by either my voice or my acoustic guitar. Not only that, but every sound you here is actually a separate .wav file I painstakingly recorded onto my computer. Every note, every harmonic, every tap, every anything was recorded one at a time and then sequenced together using a drum machine program on my computer. Man it took a long time!...but it gave me the chance to do some things that I would never be able to play live (such as the acoustic guitar tap drum pattern). The vocals were recorded by Mark. They are not perfect, but I think they turned out pretty good considering we spent less than an hour on them.

Hark the Herald -
You only get this song if you get your cd from me (Mark and Chris don't have it). I originally planned to do a "real" version of this song but ran out of time. After Mark gave me a master copy of the cd including everyone else's tracks, I felt really bad that both of my songs were secular songs, and that the christian christmas songs i had planned to do didn't make it on due to time constraints. I turned on my computer and played the song three times back to back, and then picked the one I thought turned out the best. I am calling it a live track because I didn't record the guitar and vocals separately, I just hit the red round record button and went for it. I had to keep it under 60 seconds because thats the longest sound clip cheap-o microsoft recorder will let make. Also, the sound quality is terrible because I recorded it using a little desktop microphone that you are supposed to use for internet chatting, etc. Anyway, you get the picture. I kind like how it turned out though. Its extremely lo-fi, like the first iron and wine or bright eyes tapes.

Thats it, Merry Xmas!
