[ There's water. A lot of it. Not just the ocean, but a storm. It seems to be night. Then-
A sunny street, the buildings worn and European. You can hear French, spoken in many voices. There's a cafe table in front of you, with a cup of coffee on it, but it's blocked in part by a newspaper, also in French. There are other cafe tables. A tall, balding man who looks like he might be eastern European, on his cell phone seems to be of particular interest to the person whose eyes you're looking out from. Then-
A body, slumped over the steering wheel of a car, almost destroyed by its collision with another car and the barriers at the side of the road. It's just possible to recognize that body as the man from before. Then-
Plywood, coming up fast, a terrible thud as the person is slammed against it. Slowly, the plywood is farther away again. But not for long, another thud. Then-
The passenger's seat of a car, at night. A thin man with salt-and pepper hair is in the drivers seat. He says, "This is not a drill, soldier." Then-
Bright sunlight, in a wide open space. A woman with blond hair a little past her shoulders is standing there, you might recognize her as Marie. She's holding a camera, and has a smile on her face. "Come on, we don't have any pictures." Then-
A pile of photographs and papers, including passports, being burned. The photographs are all of Marie. Then-
Water again. But this is different, it seems to be at tub of some kind, and while the person is clearly struggling, they remain completely submerged. Then-
Two scenes, overlapping. Both with a older, heavy man wearing glasses, standing in a tiled room, with a steel table behind him. In one scene, the viewer is looking up at him. In the other, straight at him, and the man is farther away, looking a little more worn. In the first, the man says, "From now on, you will be known as-" In the other, another person is speaking. Those who know him will recognize David's voice. "I am no longer-"
