Characters: Shizuru, ANYONE
Setting: outside a convenience store somewhere in the city
Time: mid-afternoon
Summary: Intro post; Shizuru has to get out of the house. And she needs a cigarette.
Warnings: None, unless someone decides to piss her off. Then potential for language and mild violence.
Shizuru slipped from the house with a sigh of relief, walking down the street without any destination in mind. It was jarring, seeing the mother she really only knew from photographs and slightly fuzzy memories alongside a brother who could no sooner create a sword of his spiritual energy than he could fly. There was a sense of familiarity, but it only made her miss her real family, the ones who actually knew her.
She had ransacked her room searching for some clues as to what was expected of her. While a part of Shizuru just wanted to get as far away as possible, there was enough of her own family in them that she needed them to be safe. This Kazuma wouldn't be protecting himself anytime soon, not in anything worse than a fistfight. Shizuru would have to at least stay close enough and trusted enough to watch over the two of them.
The schedule and utterly depressing lack of cigarettes that she'd found told her two things with which she wasn't particularly pleased. She was a student here still, and she was not a smoker. Wonderful. At least her hair had been quite long, so that a couple minutes with a pair of scissors was enough to salvage it.
Shizuru could really use a cigarette right about now. In this body, her craving was for familiarity rather than for nicotine, but it was no less potent for that fact. Quickly purchasing a pack and a lighter at the first convenience store she found, Shizuru leaned against the wall outside and took a long drag, releasing the smoke from her lungs in a sigh of relief.
