Being Yachiru, she wouldn't have called Kukai by his name even if she had known it. Which she didn't. Even so, she nodded hopefully. "Mmhmm! For sushi." Yachiru knew where she was going! Really! But she was hungry, and maybe Flutter knew a shortcut.

"Do you know him?" she asked.

She wondered how Flutter could fly, since he didn't have wings. Flying wouldn't be as nice as riding on Ken-chan's shoulder, of course, but it would be interesting to know how anyway. Maybe it was the same energy that made him powerful, since he said he was strong too.

Daichi nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah! He and I've been friends for years!" He then gestured for her to follow him as he started flying towards Kukai's house.

"Come on! I'll show you where he lives!"

"Yaaaaaaaay! Sushi!" Yachiru dashed alongside the small figure, barely refraining from passing him. Her stomach growled audibly as she did. Yachiru's appetite was always nigh insatiable, and being stuck into a human body didn't lessen it any. The girl wasn't always hungry, but she was never full.

"So what are you, Flutter? You said you're strong, and if you've been his friend for years, you musta come here like I did. You don't seem like a ghost or a shinigami, you're too little! Maybe you're like Jiggly's hairthingys?" The shinigami took no notice of any confusion caused by her words.

Ah, figured she was hungry! Daichi couldn't help chuckling as he took Yachiru around towards the back of Kukai's house. "I'm not a ghost! Or a... hairthingy," He blinked, not quite sure what she meant by that. (Did she really call her friend "Jiggly" too?)

"I'm a Shugo Chara," He explained solemnly. "Or a Guardian Character. We're born from the eggs of people's hearts... so basically, we're like guardians for kids. If you can see me, that probably means yours hasn't been born yet."

With that, he gestured to the sliding doors. Kukai opened the door for them and smiled, "Ah, sorry about that! It's nice to meet you, Yachiru-chan!"

Yachiru thought that over for a moment. "Hearts lay eggs? I'm pretty sure mine doesn't. I can't look. Especially since Jiggly isn't here to fix me after. And I'm not a kid, Flutter. Most people can't see me either!" As this last statement was wholly untrue while Yachiru had taken up lodging in a human body, it might get her another odd look. Though it wasn't as if the first half of her speech wouldn't have gotten one already.

Yachiru beamed up at Kukai, "Hi Cookie! I found Flutter, and he brought me a better way here."

Daichi blinked, "Huuuuuh?" Before he could really ask any more questions - because this kid confused him a lot - Kukai unfortunately interrupted by ushering the two inside.

He called to his parents, "Hey, I have a friend over!" to which he got something that vaguely resembled a "that's nice, dear" if Kukai and Daichi strained to hear the parents over the blaring TV. Shrugging, Kukai grinned, "Flutter? Is that what we're calling Daichi now? Awesome."

At this point, the Cookie nickname didn't even register - he was so used to everyone calling him that - that he belatedly amended, "And it's Kukai. But ah, right, you want sushi, right?"

He gestured to the table. "So here you go! Enjoy!"

Any of Daichi's questions would have to wait a little longer. Yachiru, heedless of Kukai's correction regarding his name, gave a quick exclamation of, "Thanks, Cookie!" before her mouth opened impossibly wide and the sushi on the table began to disappear at an alarming rate.

It was delicious, and hopefully Kukai hadn't wanted anything to eat, because Yachiru's stomach was temporarily appeased and the dishes on the table completely clean in a matter of seconds. She stepped away from the table and gave the other two a radiant grin, showing that she'd most definitely enjoyed the food, just in case the speed at which it had been devoured hadn't clued them in.

Kukai and Daichi couldn't help staring a Yachiru. How could someone so small put all of that food away so quickly? Scratching his cheek, Kukai finally - slowly - commented, "You're.... welcome?"

Poor Daichi: he was honestly too shell-shocked to really say anything. Like a good guardian fairy, he'd fainted right on his partner's shoulder.

Yachiru just looked back at them for a moment, wondering if they'd suddenly gotten paralyzed. She was about to go over and start poking Kukai when he at last managed words.

Poor Daichi did not recover so well, so the small shinigami asked, "Hey, hey, is Flutter alright!?" Yachiru did bounce the few steps between herself and Kukai and prod at the tiny person with one of her small fingers, seeing if he'd wake up. Flutter didn't seem to be wounded in any way, so she wasn't sure what could have made him fall over like that.

"Are you okay too? You stood still for a really long time!"

It took Daichi a few seconds, but he eventually did float up and laugh nervously at Yachiru, "Yeah, yeah!" He laughed, flexing his muscles. "I'm fine! See?"

Kukai, on the other hand, just sheepishly shrugged. "Sorry, kiddo. I've just never seen anyone eat that much." (That was a blatant lie: his friend Utau'd been able to put away equal amounts, but... she was also older than Kukai. By like, a lot.)

"That's good!" she told Daichi. "I wasn't sure what happened to you, Flutter! It didn't seem like you were exhausted or injured."

And as for Kukai, she tilted her head to the side, as if this were an entirely surprising thing to hear. "Really? It wasn't that much!" she declared, smiling. Yachiru could down piles of food, given the opportunity. It was enough that she wasn't hungry anymore though.

Her eating habits were unusual, even for the top level shinigami. In Soul Society, only stronger spirits, those with the potential to become Soul Reapers, ever became hungry at all. Eating was more habit than necessity for others. So one would assume it was normal for the captains and vice captains to eat frequently. Yachiru, though, put them all to shame. She saw nothing out of the ordinary in this.

Her perception of "a lot" was definitely skewed. No wonder she could put all that food away! Leaning against the doorframe, Kukai kept an eye out for his parents - good, they were still distracted by the rom-com they were watching - before he looked back at Yachiru.

If she wasn't hungry - please let her not be hungry! Their house couldn't handle it - then maybe he could take her outside and let her talk for a little bit?

Kukai shrugged, "You wanna see our koi pond? It's right out here," as he gestured towards the sliding door. "Or I mean... I guess we could talk here before I take you home."
