First Case

If I heard my messages correctly, I'm supposedly stuck in this town to collect jewel shards. Does this happen often? I don't mind helping everyone out, but I can't say I quite expected to wake up here either ( Read more... )

Mr. Wayne.

Surprising to find you on this frequency.

I suppose even Haven's elite aren't immune.

["So my role hasn't changed from Gotham to Haven. Good to know."] Perhaps not. Even the elite have to pay their dues to society every now and then.

Now, why is it so surprising to find me here?

I didn't know getting sucked from one world into another constituted a due to society.

Perhaps from that you can infer my surprise.

I suppose it wouldn't be every day that Kane Industries' favorite financial adviser was replaced with another Bruce Wayne.

May I ask who you are? I'm afraid you weren't around in Gotham.

Favorite?

And that would be because I was here, leading my own life as it was. Fuu Fukuyama. I'm a reporter for the city newspaper.

[Oh snap not more reporters.] It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Ms. Fukuyama.

I suppose it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume you knew the other me.

Mm, I did a story a couple of years ago. Kane's up and coming CEO, the man behind the myth, back when they put me on more of the society tripe. Attended a couple of the charity events.

High society seems to be quite fond of you, Mr. Wayne, though I wonder if you'll be more reassuring to the shareholders.

Hm... Perhaps. We'll have to see with time.

So you don't report on high society events anymore?

Mm. You're not a man who gives much out, are you? Somewhat different than your predecessor.

And not if I can help it. However, we're a smallish newspaper by comparison to larger cities, in the middle of an age where the newspaper art is dying, so . . . who knows? You might find me lurking.

I'll be the one with a drink in my hand and looking about to kill something.

I like to keep a little mystery. It makes life more fun.

That's certainly one way to enjoy a party. If you have to kill something by the end of the night? I suggest the ice sculptures. No one ever liked those swans.

A difference in upbringing, then . . . because it's apparently not a difference in genetics, if the evidence of the rest holds true. Hm?

I'll keep it in mind . . . though I did always like birds.

It may very well be. I'm not as knowledgeable on my other self as you are, so I'll leave you to decide for the time being.

Oh? They're certainly beautiful creatures.
