"SINGLE? Get Hooked!"
The teasers went like that as I anticipate my first ever project as an AB Student Council officer- The 2006 Arts and Letters Organization Fair. I have the discretion and power to make my own title of the event- for the past couple of years, the fair has been quoted as "BIBBO FAIR" that stands for: Bigger, Better and Bolder Organization Fair. Last year, we witnessed an elevation from BIBBO to Bibbong-BIBBO. This year, I gave it a new face- "GET HOOKED! The 2006 BIBBO Fair" as you may have noticed, the word 'Bibbo' is still there but not as the head title, but as the subtitle, paying respect to the one who gave that name- Perk Caculitan, 2004 VP-Internal of the same council I now am a part of.
The project had a roughly 3-week preparation. Its supposed date was last June 28th to the 30th but was moved to July 4-6 because of many reasons. One, that of almost all my co-officers were so under the weather after our weekend trip to Laguna for the Leadership Training. Two, because of the letters- which I'm very proud of! Why? Because I MADE all the letters that will make my project possible. From the Project Proposal to the 9th, 10th or 11th letter (I think)- the letter for the AB lobby usage. I asked a little help from our dear secretary and some of my friends, but I decided not to give them the burdens regarding the letters. (After that incident, I'm ready to run as the next AB Secretary... hahahaha... from Patricia to Grace to Sofia to Cords and to Arden... JOKE!) and trust me.. those four consecutive Secretaries of the Council were all gorgeous!
I was told that I'm making a "one-man show" in this project because I'm doing everything alone. Hindi kasi ako sanay mag-utos, hangga't kaya ko ang trabaho, gagawin ko. Lame, I know, pero nakakahiya kasi mag-utos e.. but good thing there were people who really helped me all the way... Ate Mina, the superwoman! There's Delwyn, Ate Ynee, Ate Steph, the great Muse, my executive seretary- Sarah, Jhey, Kuya Dennis, my co-officers- Kuya Milf, Ate Renee, At Cords, JC, Eddrex "man-power galore" and our Treasurer- Niña whom I gave all the burdens to when I had a terrible sick feeling last week.
GET HOOKED opened with colors! Tuesday at 11:30, Ate Renee (our VP-External) really acted as our President then, because Kuya Milfen was confined the night before (I'm glad he's ok now). Dean Tangco and ABSC advisers Mr. Baron and Mr. Coronacion graced the ribbon cutting ceremony and The Chorus of Arts and Letters blessed the event with the Doxology and the National Anthem.

Seeing the participants happy, seeing all the materials I requested from Buildings and Grounds office, seeing my project proposal approved by the Dean, the Regent, the Vice Rector and the Rector is like seeing Oscar beside your bed (for an actress), like seeing Chad Michael Murray naked (for a die-hard) and like seeing stars on a sunny sunday morning.
Some of the highlights of the fair were the sponsors- Splash and Vitress who gave free hair spa to the AB students (indeed, there's a hair spa booth with a sink and some towels and mirrors!) and Summit Media who gave out free Seventeen magazines and Schick shavers.
Comments like "this is the most organized org fair in 2 years" and "mukha talagang FAIR as in perya" and "colorful, grabe!" really made my heart hyper! I'm glad that they liked the org fair.
Pero syempre, may downfall din and project ko, like the unexpected light rain on the last day, then some organizations like the Debate and Red Cross weren't able to recruit much... but then again, it was a success!
So, I'll be seeing you at the next project!
Watch out for my AB Textline and Niña's (ABSC Treasurer) Bookstore sa Council projects to come.
This has been Arden Joseph Khan, AB Student Council 2006-07 Public Relations Officer and Organization Fair Officer-In-Charge, signing off... for now.
Man, I need a good sleep and a back massage!
