Sunday night, 28th of May, out of the navy blue sky, I feel anxious and uneasy about tomorrow’s big activity- The Annual Leadership Training Seminar hosted by the UST- Central Student Council. One thing maybe is because it’s my first time to be joining such an LTS; another is that I’ve never been acquainted with all my fellow student leaders in UST. What if I won’t feel the feeling of belongingness? Just what if.
Suddenly, I was proven wrong. And yes, I belong!
Come, I’ll take you to this irreplaceable and exceptional experience!
Monday, May 29:
Woke up at 5:30, left home at 6:00, reached UST at 7:20
Call time: 6:30 am. And no, I’m not the “ultimate late.” I made it!
Left UST at 8:30 am- I’m riding Bus #1. The air-con is just terrible.
Inside the oh so dreadful Bus:
Lew (Nursing SC President) happens to be my seatmate. Fun ahead!
Punkie & Cris (Nursing SC Auditor & Treasurer respectively) sit right next to us.
On the row before them, I found my first LTS crush! He’s all that and 10% more!
After 4 hours at most, we finally reached the goddess, Caliraya Recreation Center.
But oh, not just yet! We took a boat ride crossing the man-made lake to the resort. Ang saya!
I told Ate Renee that it would cost you like 100 bucks to ride a boat at Riverbanks. We had one free!
Lastly, a jeepney ride to finally reach the main bldg. There, we met Apol. Crazy beautiful!
Room assignment: Duplex 1 together with the angels of Commerce Student Council.
Lunch. 3-consecutive sessions. Snack/ Break separating each.
I still hang out with my first set of friends. Medyo nahihiya pa ako makipagkilala. Hehe.
Before I called it a day, I joined some of the people enjoying a night swim.
I went into the pool, alone. I was such a loner, my! And after few minutes, I went off of the pool because it was really freezing cold. Plus, I don’t swim. Shameful. Pa-cute lang. Hehe.
Then, it was a day.
Tuesday, May 30:
This day is the climax of all climaxes.
We were grouped according to the color designated to us. Color BLUE it is.
Ney (CSC Auditor) is our main man- group member from the executive board.
My ultimate crush (my crush since I was in first year) happens to be in our group as well. Wee!
We were asked to think of a group name. Then, “BLUTUT” was born.
One of the purposes of the grouping part is for a broader acquaintance.
Another is for the AMAZING RACE- more than a millennial obstacle race. Trust me.
BLUTUT plays ecstatic on the Amazing Race:
I played the part of the blindfolded one for the first challenge: to put back the pieces of a puzzle with eyes covered and group mates directing me what to do. It’s all about TRUST.
Then, off we go to the second challenge. We are guided by a clue that’s quite very hard to decode. It took us like, 30 minutes or so to interpret it appropriately.
Then came the caterpillar walk-challenge. Afterward, the big time jumping rope fixture.
Followed by the earth ball challenge: toss a gigantic ball 6 times. Yeah!
Subsequently, we were asked to jump into the pool to complete the next challenge.
We heard ourselves say: “pasma ang aabutin natin dito, hehehe…”
Lastly, before capping up the race is the highly anticipated mud slide challenge.
As expected, it was whole lot of fun- plus 10% more!
After lunch, after an afternoon break, and after another talk- we prepared for a so-called delightful presentation for our socialization night.
We prepared for a variety show. Acting, joking and plain entertaining.
BLUTUT is a fusion of unsurpassed individuals. We are exceptional, tough and sole. We are the best.
After all the groups have presented, they handed in the awards for each group.
Our team, BLUTUT ranks third in the Amazing Race Challenge
And we won first place in the group presentation and ended up as:
… the LTS Over-All Winning Group.
Our last night together formally closes with a group hug. Getting emotional here.
Wednesday, May 31:
Super late for breakfast. In fact, we never had a breakfast.
Concluding presentations and talks. Then…
… we had our last meal together.
Packing up of things and off we go to where we first met… in UST.
Ever had an experience so unforgettable?
Personally, I've had a lot.
But this one- will forever be etched in my mind.
miss-haps,
