MOMENTS OF LOVE

I'm not speaking as someone who respects and loves the network GMA so much and its creations but as someone who is a fan to Filipino movies, dramas. One of the most beautiful movies I've seen this year is yes, Moments Of Love. And oh, I didn't actually expect that I'd be watching this movie with someone who really means happiness to me. Yes, a special friend joined me in the screening of this momentous drama. Actually, it’s not just plainly beautiful but more so is creative, ingenious.

The story is intelligent, very imaginative. I never thought someone could actually come up with an idea like that and get to support it all the way. The story about an unexpected love that breaks the barriers of time. Director Mark A. Reyes gave a very beautiful interpretation on the impossibility of the story. Seriously, the movie has made me shiver every now and then on the intensity of the story. And I cried twice, thrice fully in this film. The cinematography is outrageous. Impeccable. The shots on the locations like the ones in The Tabones (Lake Tabon) where the hopeful lovers have planned to meet and the light in the location in Bulacan has given it an A for cinematography. Not to forget the “lente” on the angles and perspective of the actors made it a picture worth remembering.

IZA CALZADO made a wonderful Divina Buenacer. While watching the film, I can’t help but tell the person next to me “napakaganda ni Iza, perfect… perfect!” I won’t actually call it as an award-winning performance but she's one of the main reasons why the film is a success. Or perhaps, she’d make it as the next Best Actress. Who knows? Impressive Reyna Amihan, impressive! DINGDONG DANTES is Marco. The actor gave a natural yet strong performance on the leading man, the hopeful realist who lives in the present. The power is already in DingDong Dantes and that’s what gave him an effective performance. KARYLLE is the one who needs power and agility. She is a weak soul. But in that film, she gave a just recital on Le-Ann Santos, the one who fell for Marco. There, she portrayed both the life of a hopeless romantic and a hopeful realist. PAOLO CONTIS, hail Paolo, hail! Wonderful actor, funny how he turned the dramatic aura into suspense every time his character appears in the picture.

It is a timeless film. A movie you’d love to view over and over again. It has an abnormal brilliance that will make the audience savor in Filipino wonder.

And please, please, never ask for a synopsis or the ending of the film. You will regret it! Just view the film as smooth as possible and see the delightful movie experience yourself.

“Ang pag-ibig, walang pinipiling panahon; walang nakikitang wakes.”
-Divina Buenacer, 1957

Before I end my critique, I’ll leave you all a thought and a question:

Ang pag-ibig nga naman, mahiwaga. Kapag ito’y nangako, siyang tunay na natutupad. Walang pinipiling pagkakataon ang pagdating ng wagas na pag-ibig. Kadalasan, ito ay dumarating sa isang pagkakataong hindi mo inasahan, kaya dapat ay lagi mong buksan hindi ang iyong mga mata, kung hindi and iyong puso.

Ano ang mahiwagang tagpo noong March 29, 2006?
