For people who think biology isn't dangerous:

While carrying out biohazard waste today, I was thinking about life, as usual, and you know what? Science can be MANLY too.

In one morning, I handled:

-Acid that sizzle when opened and will burn away your skin (Just like in video games) upon contact. (6M is about as concentrated as this stuff gets, I think.)
-Solutions that are so corrosive that protective eyewear is necessary unless you want to go blind. Also, stuff smell.
-Around fifteen thousand sharp, pointy glass needles that break upon contact
-Cytotoxins that can kill you with the concentration of approximately 10ug/ml.
-Cyanide compounds.
-Subzero materials that need gigantic gloves or else you fingers get frostbite within ~3 seconds of holding them.

And this is just the run-of-the-mill daily lab work.

I love biology.

real life, amused, work
