'Nothing you can do can tear me away from my God'

So, it's now Tuesday. I have had two consecutive sleep ins and as such feeling much more energetic now. I just have to motivate myself to get this list of things done today. It's about 14 items long... Help meeee XD

At any rate, these past few days have been totally awesome. There were two shows on Saturday, with dinner in between. There were a few things that happened that I found particularly amusing.

Firstly, I walked into the pit before the matinee show to see that a couple of string players weren't sitting in their normal spots. I thought someone was sick and we had to reshuffle parts. No, it turns out that the strings were playing musical chairs/parts. Quite literally. A violist had moved to second with me, my usual desk partner was playing first, and the first violinist (not the leader) was now playing viola. Why? Because they could. The best part? They fricking pulled it off. No one outside the pit would have been the wiser. It was pretty damn awesome. Ah musos, I love you so freaking much!!

The second hilarious part of the day was after we'd gone out for dinner (yum food btw) a couple of us had gone for a walk down the pier when the cool change came through. It had been 35 degrees out, and then it started positively bucketing down. We headed back to the restaurant as it was the nearest shelter - and got dessert and coffee. That was fine, and decided to brave it when the rain lightened up - to get back to the theatre. The rain hadn't lightened up all that much, we discovered. We got drenched. Again, pretty funny - we were so bedraggled.

This leads me to the next epic moment of the day. P and I were in the pit early because of the rain etc, and so were listening/watching a few of the actors do their soundchecks. There were the really cute Disney songs (there are a few kids, after all) the classic showtunes and the like. The funniest bits though were the nuns. Firstly, there is one nun who is never listened to by another particular character in the show - so as a dialogue soundcheck she did this whole monologue on the spot about how 'Sister Burta' never listens, I told you so but you never listen etc etc etc which was pretty amusing. There was one absolutely brilliant moment though that had P and I almost in hysterical giggles. One of the nuns chose to start singing 'My God' from Sister Act. Not even kidding. She was in costume too... If that wasn't great enough, the next nun to do her soundcheck picked up when the first one stopped. Seamlessly. Mid-line. Then the others joined in with the back up parts. It. Was. Epic. There is no other word to describe that.

For those who aren't quite sure what I'm talking about, this is the song from the movie they were recreating. And for those who do, enjoy.

I also loved that in the night performance on the Saturday we all conspired to change the key of a certain part of the score. It was a pretty simple change, but the look on the music director's face was priceless. Tehehe.

I don't remember exactly when this was - but there was another moment when I got  a little freaked out, but not because of a dirty joke that they made. Or not directly. One of the guys made a really really gross joke that I thankfully don't remember - but then looked at me and said 'oh, Lauren's thinking "who are these people and what have I gotten myself into ... am I blushing?"' ... amusing/embarrassing thing was my thoughts at that moment were 'oh god that was hilarious, so bad but hilarious, please don't be going red please don't be going red' XD XD XD
STOP READING MY MIND DAMN IT!

I ended up going to Maccas with Fi instead of drinks with the orchestra, but I don't think many people I actually knew well enough to chat to were going so I didn't mind. Same with the after party - we were all just too buggered. Instead, I came home and continued my clean out of my wardrobe, and ended up deciding to rearrange the whole thing. At 1am. I'm clever like that...

Yesterday I slept in, ran a couple of errands, and then met snuggle_monster  to see Tangled. Second time for me, and I loved it just as much if not more. We were in absolute hysterics at points. I love watching movies for the second time with someone who hasn't - especially when I know certain scenes will be found utterly hilarious by said person. This was no exception.
The chameleon was the best sidekick ever. These clips aren't all from the movie itself, but it's hilarious so follow the link. I love that Flynn is terrified of him, and that the animals are hilarious without needing to talk.
This movie is quickly becoming a favourite - even among Disney movies. And that's saying something, coming from me.

I think thats a proper update. Now, meme!
