Sorry I'm mostly a repository for kid issues and stories these days, but trust me it's more interesting than my ranting about my mother, which would be my other main occupation these days.
So, my son is the newest Land of the Lost fan in the house (that would be the tv show, not the movie), and he is scared witless by Sleestaks - not however, witless enough to not want to watch. :) Which of course also means that when I arrived to pick him up from school this afternoon and went to collect him from the playground he was running around like a crazed monkey - a task from which he paused just long enough to inform me, "We're playing Land of the Lost! They're the Sleestaks!!" and dash back off again. I'm always a little paranoid about my kid being "that" kid, so I'm gently trying to discourage this, but kids are kids, what are you gonna do, right? At least it's semi original compared to Transformers and Spiderman that the other boys all seem to like (and which Evan is completely barred from). Every so often he'll randomly tell me, "Only the green ones are bad guys!".. it's pretty funny. We're talking a LOT about fantasy and make believe and acting and how TV works and stuff as well as about plate tectonics and extinction. Whee! But we were just standing in John's office talking while getting ready for him to go to sleep when he was telling me all about playing Land of the Lost and how you can't get caught in the net, etc. etc. I asked him what the teachers thought about it, and he looked thoughtful for a minute and gravely replied, "I think they mind." John utterly cracked up as he quickly clarified, "I think they DON'T mind! I mean I think they don't mind." I think I kept a straight face and told him that if the teachers asked him to stop, he had to, and that he wasn't allowed to scare anyone. Hopefully I don't have "that" kid. :)
So I was shooing him to bed and told him and John, "Get to bed, you two!", and got the retort, "Get to bed, you one!" Little stinker.
