i really need to finish this insanity

I started doodling an insane picture of all my favorite male scoundrel characters and I suddenly had the urge to do a character meme. So I hunted one down and here we go... though, I had to add a couple of not-so-scoundrel-male characters to even it out a little (and the original doodle only had 6 characters)...
First, select your ten fictional characters (from any medium) by whichever method you like best. Then answer the questions below.

1. Vash the Stampede (Trigun)
2. Gambit(X-Men)
3. Han Solo (Star Wars)
4. Spike/William the Bloody 9Buffy/Angel)
5. Marquis de Carabas (Neverwhere)
6. Jack Sparrow (Pirates)
7. Peter Venkman (Ghostbusters)
8. Illyria (Angel)
9. Vincent Valentine (FF7)
10. Ian Malcolm (Jurassic Park)

1. Divide the list up by even and odd. Which group of five would make a better Five Man Band (like a Power Rangers team)? Who would you slot in each position: Leader, Lancer (second-in-command), Big Guy, Smart Guy, The Chick? If you think the team would be improved by swapping one character between the even and odd groups, which ones would you switch?

Group A: Vash, Han, Marquis, Peter, Vincent
Group B: Gambit, Spike, Jack, Illyria, Ian

Group A:

Leader: Han
Lancer: Peter
Big Guy: Vincent
Smart Guy: Marquis
Chick: Vash

Group B:

Leader: Gambit
Lancer: Spike
Big Guy: Illyria
Smart Guy: Ian
Chick: Jack

I think in both cases there might be conflicted between the two “leader” types, considering they‘re all smartasses, and with the exception of Han, are more loner types (Han would be… but he has Chewy). Vash and Jack are definitely the chicks, hahaha. I think if I were to switch any, then it would have to be both teams smart Guy and Lancer. Peter and the marquis seem to fit in more with the supernatural B team, while Gambit and Ian fit more into the technological, sci-fi type team A.

Man, just imagine a team of Jack, Han, Gambit and Vash. They’d be unstoppable! The LUCK would overwhelm everyone!

2. Gender-swap 2, 8 & 10. Which character would have the most change in their story arc? Which the least? Would any of these characters have to have a complete personality change to be believable as the opposite sex?

Girl Gambit. Boy Illyria (I actually don’t see much a change here considering the fact that it‘s just a female body playing host to a massively powerful Old One), Girl Ian. Gambit’s story arc definitely would be the most changed. Ian’s would probably be the least, considering he’s just smart and snaky about stuff… then gets attacked by a T-Rex (I’m simply sticking with JP1 in this). Illyria’s story would change a bit because of the Fredness and Wesley‘s devotion to her. Gambit might have to tone down his cockiness to be believable as a girl, but not necessarily so.

3. Compare the matchups of 1 & 8 and 5 & 9. (Ignore canon sexual preferences for the moment.) Which couple would be more compatible? Which couple would be more plausible to people from either principal's home culture?

Dear God. Vash and Illyria? Well, Illyria would probably respect the power Vash had, but be endlessly irritated by his overwhelming humanity. And he could try to teach her all about love and peace…

As for Vincent and the Marquis… uh… I wouldn’t put it past the Marquis to take advantage of Vincent for one favor or another… but Vincent is a sad case, still hung up on Lucrecia, and somehow I doubt this relationship would end happily, let alone start at all O.o;;;

4. Your team is 3, 4 & 9. The mission consists of a social challenge, a mental challenge and a physical challenge. Which team member do you assign to each challenge?

Han gets the social challenge, Spike gets the physical, and Vincent can have the mental. I think that works out nicely.

5. 7 becomes 1's boss for a week in some plausible fashion. How's their working relationship?

Well, Peter’s kind of bitter, but usually good-humored, so I think Vash and he get along great, then go out and get smashed on a regular basis. And no doubt Peter’s doing telepathic experiments on Vash, who volunteered because of a pretty young lady Peter‘s also interested.. Vash probably gets electric shocks. Yeah.

6. 2 finds him/her/itself inserted into 6's continuity. As far as anyone other than 2 or 6 is concerned, they've always been there. What role would 2 be presumed to have had in 6's story, and could they fit in without going wonky?

Well… Gambit in Jack Sparrow’s time fighting potential skeletal pirates and zombies and stuff… being that Gambit’s Cajun, a thief and an X-Men, this actually works out well… considering he’s traveled in time, plundered various goods and fought zombies all ready. Let’s reflect on this thought a moment, people: Gambit as a pirate. Yes.

7. 3 and 5 get three wishes. The catch is that they have to agree on all three wishes before they get the benefits of any of them. What three wishes would they make?

Han and the Marquis.
1. The ability to sense traitors
2. Diplomatic immunity
3. Potential clients

8. 1 and 2 are brainwashed by a one-time artifact that works even on people immune to mind control to attack and kill 4. They keep their normal personality, skills and competence level, except any Code vs. Killing has been turned off. Can 4 survive? How?

Vash and Gambit against Spike. More like how will Vash survive if he succeeds?! I really don’t see things ending well for Spike here. Both Gambit and Vash have mad skills at exploding things and Spike is highly flammable. Of course, he’s a vampire so he can always heal. Unless Gambit and Vash drag him out into sunlight. I think Spike might survive if he called in Buffy or Illyria as a reinforcement.

9. 6, 7, 9 & 10 must help an orphanage full of small and depressed children have a merry Christmas. Who does what, knowing that at the very least the kids will be expecting a visit from Santa?

Venkman, Vincent, Ian and Jack… Venkman will begrudgingly be Santa and make a big fit about it, but will actually enjoy the attention of all the little kids. Vincent would probably scare the kids, so he can go cook for them and stay mostly out of sight. I don’t think Jack and Ian would be very good around children either, but Jack at least would probably amuse them if not because he’s captain Jack Sparrow. Ian can bring some safe baby dinosaurs for them to ride, or something.

10. 3 and 8 are challenged to circumnavigate the Earth in eighty days or less, using only forms of transportation invented before 1900. Can they do it, or will they be fatally distracted by sidequests or their own personality conflicts?

If Han can make the Millenium Falcon run, then no doubt simpler machines, like a balloon or boat, should be no problem… though I can see both of them becoming irritated by the slowness (Han) of tediosness (Illyria) of it, giving up and hoping into the MF to cruise the galaxy. Han can show Illyria the galaxy and she can figure out there’s more to living then just dominating one measly planet or dimension. And single-handedly stop the Empire in it’s tracks. Illyria vs. the Dark Side. I say there’s a new emperor in town…
Well, that was interesting. I should do an original character one. maybe another night.
