I stand by what I said before...

Rant time...!

Since the economy is terrible, gas prices are at an all-time high (for now... later they'll be at a new all-time high... I predict they're going to top out around 10$ p/g... or something crazy like that), and the job market SUCKS... I'm really hating where I live right now. First, there is nothing to do around here. Which has been a gripe of mine since I moved. There's a bank and a gas station, and that's about it. In Oak Park, I lived about 3 blocks from everything. Now... there's a road... that curves a few times and just keeps going. And crappy monopoly subdivisions.

There's been sucky weather lately (with only a few minor non-raining, cold, or damn-windy times to go out and get some sun), so I can't even go outside and enjoy my very fine backyard, which is about the only thing about this house I like (and it was the selling point which convinced my parents to buy the damn house, nevermind the fact that's it's too small for all the crap we have...)

And there's that whole, looking for a better job thing (I'm convinced. I'm not staying at Kohl's any longer than maybe another month and a half, or so...) It really is more about who you know that what you know. And I have a pretty pathetic network going. What I said before, looking for a job is probably the best inspiration to do some writing, is still so very true. Every time I start looking at job descriptions, I try to imagine myself doing whatever said job description says, and promptly think "Oh, hell no." Even the jobs I thought I'd be somewhat interested in... And then, for some reason, think of what I'd like to do instead, and get INSPIRED. Unfortunately, the biggest concern I'm focusing on right now, I suppose, is getting a job what offers health insurance benefits (which, writing books, sadly, doesn't cover). So... *sigh* now for shameless pleas of help...

Does anyone know anyone needing a proofreader or editor for anything?
Or maybe an illustrator?
Data-entry?
Any work related to writing, or any of the above, that might offer health insurance?

On a side note, I have a new idea for a hat I want to make, but I need some small circs to knit it. And maybe some nice bulky green yarn... Also, I've started watercoloring again (yay!). For now, I still have an abundance of free time, which is mostly taken up by reading, writing, cleaning, and hanging with my faithful, constant companion, Genghis. He's a sweety, really. He hardly leaves my side since I've been home.

On a further side note, finally broke down and bought "Portal" the other day (and then got my sister addicted to it so she had to go out and buy it). I *love* the ending song, especially since I found out it was written by Jonathan Coulton (who wrote one of the best songs ever written about zombies, corporate or otherwise, "Re: Your Brains." CHECK IT OUT). I had previously played it almost through to the end on a friends computer, but couldn't decide whether to chuck the money on the stand alone, or just go for the whole, "Orange Box" shebang, wait until I got a PS3, or buy it for the PC (which is what I finally did, off Steam). My only qualm with the PC versions is that, for some reason, my gamepad wouldn't let me set the look up/down command, so I had to play through on the keyboard. I Don't Care If FPS Games Are Better With Keyboard/Mouse Controls, It's A Matter Of FRIGGIN' Preference, And I Prefer Gamepads. Keyboard/Mouse Controls Make My Hands Fall Asleep and My Back Hurt From Sitting At The Desk.
So There.

The cake is a lie... And that's all I have to say for now.
