Ungrateful bastards, redux

Today was one of those "what the fuck am I doing here" kind of days.  Things started out well.  My student evaluations from last quarter came back this morning.  The average score of all OSU professors/lecturers/teaching assistants (that's me) is 4.3 on a scale of 1 to 5.  In one class I scored 4.1, and other 4.6.  So I guess I'm on par with the ( Read more... )

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably hold off on throwing away the RTAP, though. I'm still too new at this...

What do you usually lecture about? The same stuff as the master or stuff that interests you in the same time period?

RTAP = Retrieving The American Past, the customized reader each professor puts together for his/her classes each quarter (if you're curious, you can see the possibilities here). The selections in the RTAP are supposed to form the basis of our discussion sections. The RTAP is monstrously expensive and is the bane of the undergraduate historian. I think the RTAP has great potential, but I get my copies for free. I'm kind of looking forward to teaching my own class and getting to assemble my own.
