Yesterday Ohio's legislature passed a
bill allowing concealed weapons in bars and other places that serve alcohol. Because guns and alcohol mix well. Well, the law does say that people carrying guns cannot actually drink alcohol. So there's that.
Next up: Republicans want to pass a law that "would eliminate the need for gun permits and allow anyone who 'qualifies for a permit' - but doesn't have one - to carry a concealed weapon," according to the above article. Why would we want to force gun owners to jump through any hoops, after all?
The State Senate
also voted to open up state parks and other publicly-owned land to oil drilling and voted for a resolution that says the federal government cannot compel Ohioans to buy health insurance. A formerly Republican idea, the individual insurance mandate, is now anathema because President Obama supports it.
What an irritating governing body.
