This has been a very strange week. The most obvious strangeness was the unexpected hurricane that came through on Sunday and knocked out the electricity for three days (for us, there are lots of other people who are just now getting their power back). Then there was a conference paper proposal that my advisers didn't like because they thought it sounded more like a dissertation proposal (which is ironic because I don't really have a dissertation proposal and I don't want to write a dissertation on that proposed paper topic), so they want me to start over. And then our dog started throwing up at 4am yesterday and kept doing it all day and into this morning. He seemed to get better throughout the day today, but I missed some of it because I got to go to Lowe's a couple times (and
stinky_monky had to make an additional trip) for house stuff. Now I'm freakin' exhausted and don't wanna start school in four days. School stinks!
A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs & replace any question that they dislike with a new question. Meh, I'm lazy.
B) Tag 8 people to do this quiz. Um, the one of you who wants to do this and then seven others. You all can fight over who those seven people are.
And now, for the questions:
1. How many songs are on your iPod? As of right now: 6,465 songs, 2 TV shows, 398 Podcasts, and 1 audiobook.
2. What music would you want played at your funeral? "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" by R.E.M., "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Theme)" by Weezer, and "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie.
3. What magazines do you have subscriptions to? I ended up with a free one-year subscription to the Southern California Historical Review. And I have some sort of T. Rowe Price investment magazine turn up occasionally. Does the Container Store catalog count? (Yes, the Container Store catalog is somehow in my name. Not very manly, I know.)
4. What is your favorite scent? Homemade BBQ chicken pizza is always a welcome scent.
5. If you had a million dollars that you could only spend on yourself, what would you do with it? If I had the option to be responsible: Pay off student loans, credit cards, and the house; put most of the rest in some kind of savings account; and use the rest of the rest for fun stuff (travel to other countries, other states, new presidential libaries, etc. [Well, maybe not new presidential libraries]). If I can't be "responsible": iTunes (I still have about 50 GB to fill up on my iPod), Rock Band downloadable songs, a new car (
injuredsquirrel 's new Acura with its switchblade key is pretty sweet and the nerdy part of me thinks the new Chevy Volt will be pretty cool, which is probably the only time I would want an American-made car), HDTV, cheesy guy stuff like that I guess.
6. What is your theme song? I really wish "The Man Comes Around" by Johnny Cash would blare whenever I enter a room. It could alternate with Oasis's "Whatever" and R.E.M.'s "Falls to Climb."
7. Do you trust easily? No.
8. Do you generally think before you act, or act before you think? Usually I plan things out ahead of time, though I have occasional moments of stupidity where I act without thinking
9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days? No. Stressed, sure. Frustrated, you bet. Annoyed, certainly. But I'm happy with my life right now.
10. Do you have a good body-image? Most of the time. I'm in pretty good shape for someone in my line of work (i.e. a career that entails absolutely no physical exertion), though a lot of it is buried under squishiness.
11. Is being tagged fun? I guess. I usually don't respond though. Every now and then I follow the pack and fill out a meme. Today it helps me get my mind off the vomiting dog.
12. How do you spend your social networking (Facebook, etc.) time? My LJ flist is always open. I have a myspace page but I only check it every couple weeks and will probably delete it whenever I get around to it.
13. What have you been seriously addicted to lately? The West Wing, Cinnamon Crunch bagels at Panera, Rock Band, um, Powerpoint...
14. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is? Actually, I got tagged twice with the same meme. They're both pretty freakin' cool. One has longer hair than the other. They both have the same number of cats, though.
15. What’s the last song that got stuck in your head? "Kids" by MGMT. It was on the radio every ten minutes during my commutes between Playa Vista and Simi Valley. Luckily it's a decent song.
16.What’s your favorite item of clothing? Depends on the season. I have a really comfy red OSU sweatshirt. And a "Viking World Tour" T-shirt. And two identical pairs of Levis that fit perfectly.
17. Do you think Rice Krispies are yummy? I'm not much of a cereal eater, but they're good in sticky treat form.
18. What would you do if you saw $100 lying on the ground? I would look around and try to find the owner. If nobody is around or if I can't figure out who the owner is, it's mine.
19. What items could you not go without during the day? I can't survive without my laptop. My keys, cell phone, wallet, and sunglasses are pretty important too.
20. What should you be doing right now? Showering? Sleeping?
