My recent life often involves wrestling with an active and adventurous toddler whose latest thing seems to be climbing up onto the table in order to get to the pc screen. The thing is, if I'm watching and say "no", he aborts, but the minute he sees my back is turned, the screen becomes the object of "the toddler's hunt".
In the submission department, I am at an all-time high...one unequalled since the start of this year. For the first time this year, I have eight stories out at the same time. And that is a record. I'm aiming for ten out before the end of the year, but we'll see.
Thanks to
marshall_payne for giving me the head's up on this. My
review of Farrago's Wainscot has been published on The Fix. And what a sweet surprise, to find the reviewer acknowledged at
Behind the Wainscot :)
I'm glad you enjoyed the review.
Something I didn't get to write in my review was about how much Cat Rambo's story moved me. When this happens, I just feel like I have to talk about it with someone. By the time I got to the end of
"The Fisherman's Child", I was in tears. It is a beautiful story. So, go read it :)

Things the mail brought me today:
A copy of Donald Barthelme's Sixty Stories. Shiny, new...lovely words. Thanks to
Ben Rosenbaum for mentioning this fabulous writer. Since I've mentioned Ben, I thought I'd mention his fabulous collection of short stories,
The Ant King, which is available from Small Beer Press. I was lucky enough to get one of the two copies he brought to the Villa Diodati workshop and I think it will make a fabulous christmas present for the reading persons in your life. I'll be reviewing this collection for Munting Nayon, and am hoping to find more like-minded fantastic readers in the Filipino-Dutch community.
On a side note: Ben is responsible for the Pink Elephant on Skis. He threw out this trigger during the Villa Diodati workshop and ever since I haven't been able to stop thinking of elephants on skis. Even now, after the story has been written, I still keep thinking about an elephant populated world. *stop that*
Things the mail brought yesterday:
A copy of
Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet (current issue). I bought a copy of another issue sometime ago, loved it, and now it's on a boat headed towards the Philippines. A day after my order, I got an email from Gavin Grant thanking me for my purchase. I think that is absolute class :) I really want to get a subscription to LCRW. If my Christmas wish comes true, I might just get it too. I'm not telling what the wish is, because I am half-superstitious about things like that. . .
