Here is what I sent to Laura and Mia (my former mohr co-workers):
Ha! I made a pun! Get it, mohr gossip - more gossip? Yeah, I went there.
Yep, so I thought you all should be the first to know that come March 6, I don't see how the DC office will survive. Even if Jamal stays, it won't survive. It just isn't possible. Oh my gosh, his searches suck. I spent the entire day correcting the ones from last week, and I still have 2 to go. This had absolutely nothing to do with learning the system. With trusts with multiple assignments, he used the oldest instead of the most recent assignment for every single one. He didn't include a 1985 trust that hadn't been released, had an assignment in 1992, and had no maturity date. He missed tax liens. And they were all on the computer. For some that should have extended upstairs, he would just look at the legal and write down the deed document number from there. (You know when in the legal is says, "As recorded by the deed recorded in book 13235 page 213"). What he would do is write down the book and page, look it up in the book, and consider it done. Wouldn't even bother going upstairs to see if there may have been anything filed between 1973 to 1982 when the computer index starts. Its insane! And you know where he learned it from? Robert, I'm sure of it.
Robert takes short cuts on the searches, which is probably why Jamal's work is the crap that it is. And guess who they asked to train Jamal in DC? Robert again. Not that I care because I have other work to do, but still, it doesn't make sense. Tomorrow I'm going to finish up the property from Tuesday back, but am not going to touch today's or tomorrow's work. I really need to get everything else caught up first. If they want property to get done, then they just need to send compotent help more than once a week. Jamal doing property last week actually slowed us down. If he had just come out and said, "Hey, I can't do this, can you help?" I wouldn't have had to spend 2 days going over his work.
I am really glad I'm leaving Mohr next week for the liability reasons alone. The searches they are whipping out in DC are crap now, unless I do it. And I'm not very fast at it because I want to make sure its right. If they are producing crap in DC, just imagine what they're doing elsewhere. This company is going down, and the DC office will be first. I sure dont' want to be blamed for it. I'm trying to do what I can to keep it afloat, but with just 1 compotent person, it isn't going very well. Sonia, btw, is very nice. She's smart too. She did a better job at criminals than Jamal and I could trust her to cut the receipts and fax. If there was time to train, she'd be a good asset.
As for insurance, they suck. I'm going to have to do Cobra after all. Apparently Anthem doesn't want to continue me if I change to an individual policy. Something to do with having a heart murmer and a connective tissue disorder... Its a scam! A scam I say! The guy was really nice and was like, well maybe since you were just diagnosed and are still having tests done, it'll come back clear and you can reapply. I said, I don't think a heart murmur will be going away any time soon and the ehlers danlos isn't curable. So it would seem that other than cobra, I will have to get employment insurance for the rest of my life. Not sure what to do about retirement, but that's decades away. So I can be covered for Cobra for 18 months, according to the Anthem insurance guy. I'm sure I'll have another job by then. I'm not sure yet how long I'm going to take off to follow my dream of writing. I was thinking a couple months, but we'll see what happens and how far I get along. If I can just get the research done and an outline set, I think I'll be in good shape.
So yep, its been quite insane lately. I haven't taken a lunch break, which isn't horrible since I can leave earlier. I just eat on my way to and from the courthouses. Laura, when I see Charlie again, I'll give him the note.
Now that I spent a lot of writing space talking about me, how are you all doing! Laura, how did the first day go?!? Tony was like, yeah, I'm sure she's crying now! lol, yeah right. They all seem to know you're at Federal Reserve, but I won't talk about it. I promised I wouldn't tell, and I'm not gonna :^P
Oh! And one last note! James really deserves all he's getting. Today Robert came in wearing jeans. I freakin hate the double standard. So Robert can wear jeans but Laura can't? Bull shit. Lets just see how long this office lasts without us. HA!
