Black History 365

Feb 08, 2006 21:34

Everyday I search for truth laced wit sum answers,/
but wrongs seem 2 surround me like cancer/
see, I'm from where hearts wax cold and love aint kindelin/
like Saul said, work out salvation through fear and sum trembelin/
we losing lives on these streets like a batttlefield/
is it me or is they takin us back to the cottonfields?/
i look down at my hands and see the blood in my palms/
then i hear spirituals followed by scriptures and psalms/
blood diamonds on my fist send memories back to my brain/
how my people was brought here trapped heavy in chains/
the chains so fly plus i love the attention they brang/
but then i see the whips and fell the pain that they brang/
shit so crazy don't know how i stay sane/
Our we free if slave blood run through our vein? /
No time for sleep, we gotta keep movin on/
Like Donny Hathaway, listen to da melodies/
thats where you'll find da truth in da song/
million man marches, we need 10 mil more ta keep strong/
Thats why I represent da shit Malcom X stood for/
and the feelin when Rosa Parks wouldn't stand no more/
Still believe in peace like da dreams of Dr. King/
but like Malcom in that pic, in war I'm usin the same thing/

Even though they give us da shortest month 2 celebrate black history it don't matter cuz even if we had da whole year u still couldn't fit everything in, thats why black history's 365 every day, holla atcha boy
