FOOD for the Soul

Mmmm...Long John Silvers. I recently heard that the deal to bring the delicious chicken (and fish or something like that) chain to Freeport fell through. Instead of combining with the Galena Avenue Taco Bell, the building just closed down altogether. It's a real bummer, so I just had to fulfill my desires tonight. I introduced my roommate to the place, and ordered a 12-piece chicken family platter with a side order of fries. Of course, the platter was for ME, and only me. Needless to say, there's only one piece left, but it put my soul on Cloud 9.

I watched 'Exorcist' tonight, heard it was supposed to be a really good and scary movie. I wasn't really impressed, and I didn't really like it. I'm more into scary movies that haunt real-life average people, not a bunch of Catholic priests and African archaeologists in Kenya. I'm also more into movies with an object or person that haunts people, not some demon that possesses people. Needless to say, I'm still on my quest for the perfect horror movie.

Right now, I'm studying an in-studio video of John Mayer's 'Daughters'. I'm trying to study his finger patterns and chords to I can learn to play the song; it's a little to zoomed-out for me ot get it perfectly, but I'll figure it out.

Tomorrow, my roommate goes to Michigan to visit my brother, and I'll be all alone. It's also Chicken Wing Thursday Mania...my weekly binge of chicken wings at Roscoe's. I've calculated that since I've been in college, I've had exactly 300 chicken wings, 15 each Thursday since I've been here. Now let's do a little history of my chicken accomplishments:

-13 pieces of chicken - March 13th, 2000 at KFC following our final basketball game of the year against Rockford Berean.
-8 chicken breasts - March 24, 2002 at KFC on the way to Myrtle Beach
-630 chicken strips - August 9 - August 22 at UW Hospital in Madison (15 strips per meal for 2 weeks)
-11 pieces of chicken - February 9, 2005 at Long John Silvers
-300 chicken wings - September 8 - current at Roscoe's.

I promise you, these accomplishments are no jokes. I do have witnesses. You can ask Myke Gray about the first one, he was there. I actually puked after 11 pieces, and after emptying most of the contents of my stomach, I came back for two more pieces.

So, I spent most of tonight downloading various theme songs. I would definitely encourage it, it brings back a LOT of memories. If you're around my age, and you just search for 'theme song' in your favorite file-sharing program, you'll see a lot of old shows that you'd nearly forget. How can you forget classics such as Bobby's World, DuckTales ,Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, Captain Planet, Dinosaurs, Doogie Howser, M.D., Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Smurfs, Salute your Shorts, Alf and Heathcliff

These are the shows that defined my generation's childhood, and there's so many more of those good shows out there yet to remember. Clarissa Explains it All, the Original All That, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and so much more. These were the great days of television, I despise what has happened to TV. It's gone from Classic Cartoons and Snazzy Sitcoms to Reality Rubbish and Despicable Dramas. It's a shame.

Well, there's my Food for the Soul. Hope you all have a good weekend, later dayz!

My Life, My Soul, My Destiny...it all belongs to Him
