L'Esprit de l'Escalier -- atheist rant

Mar 18, 2010 10:47

To the pair of fuckwits who came to my door, rang my bell so that they broke my train of thought and made me come all the way downstairs, then put litter through my litterbox letterbox, and, as I opened the door told me they had given me information about a very important event, to which I replied 'oh, all right then' as I had not yet read it, this is what I should have done:

1) Torn said litter about Jesus in half, and thrown it for them to pick up, because dealing with their waste paper is not my business.

2) Told them that their mental and/or perceptual disorders are not my concern, and that they should keep it that way.

3) Told them that if they really want my opinion on a god that evidence suggests is mentally and morally disordered they can have it. A god obsessed with
a) his own name (in that there are 3 or more separate large faiths for whom the name of god is a big deal)
b) being bowed-down to and
c) setting people up to fail in a crazy moral system where every good act a person does belongs to god and every bad act a person does belongs to him/herself, and most of the rules appear to be 'tribal' rather than rational.
is not a god I regard as a moral being deserving of worship.

I have much more respect for the god believed in by deists, Quakers or the moderate end of the Church of England, but the numbers are not in favour of that one, there are far more people at the 'crazy' end.

The more evangelical the religion is, the less I want to know about it.
