Respect Others Opinions

Nov 20, 2009 18:24

I swore I wasn't going to dwell on this subject again. As usual I'm having to explain myself. Without injecting my personal opinions into the mix.
Those of you who believe in equal rights of gay couples to marry and those of you who are against it. In my experience. It seems that those of you that are passionate about voicing their opposition against the gay lifestyle. They seem for the most part to stand down.
The gay community, again in what I have seen personally, is not beneath name calling and continually shoving their opinonis down the other sides throat.
In my town, 2 miles up the street is a corner often used for exercising free speech. In California Prop 8 was a hot button for these 2 groups. The first weekend was the Yes on 8 opposing gay marriage. Quiet and civil with no problems.
The next weekend was the No on 8, the gay community. Civil unrest, violence and the cops were called. With many of the protesters being arrested. 2 people on the other side were sent to the hospital with serious injuries.
Yes the other side commits their fare share of violence against gays as well. Violence against anyone you don't agree with is WRONG.
People have the right to live their lives the way they want. On both sides. It just seems that there is no respect for the difference of beliefs and opinion.
Be careful what you say to others. Example

Bigotry:
stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.

Ignorance:
the state or fact of being ignorant; lack of knowledge, learning, information, etc.

You can argue with each other till the water on the earth dries up. Agree to disagree. I see human beings, not race, color or sexual orientation.
Feel free to voice your opinion here. You can be heard without name calling and attacking each other.
