Looks like the rumours are true, and there won't be an episode next week - there was no preview after the end credits.
But, let's not get ahead. I shall now proceed to ramble on a little about what I thought about Turn 08. Overall, a good episode! Spoilers and image heavy:
Right - took AGES to produce these caps (I took 74 in total) as my stupid computer is starting to lag in a disagreeable manner. But here we go....
My, my. Suzaku's going to be in more than a little trouble with his superiors (=the Emperor? I think the Rounds are only answerable to him. And the Knights ranked above themselves I suppose). I found Zero's 'strategy' to get everyone off scott free just ever so slightly cheesy as it totally reminded me of V for Vendetta. And seriously - escaping on an iceberg?? But I'll overlook the cheese factor just because it's Geass. Snowboarding Zero in a Knightmare Frame back in Turn 04 was something like this - so ridiculous that it's delightful. >.<
More particular thoughts:
* There were, in my opinion, two very visually pleasing scenes in this episode. The one with Anya and Suzaku in the garden at night, and the one of Nunally and Suzaku in the mausoleum.
Anya and Suzaku: the deep blue tint of the scene was just so soothing and worked well with and magic on Anya's hair. And of course there was Arthur being all nice and friendly to Anya,
and Suzaku in his traditional Japanese training wear (unfortunately, don't know what the attire's called in Japanese)
And there was this supremely gorgeous screen:
And Gino came to pick the kids up:
-Aesthetically pleasing scene #2, and even prettier than the first:
Now if only they took the stupid sponsor message away.
And there I was, complaining that Suzaku only looked grumpy/angry/unhappy this season:
Sorry - couldn't resist pic-spamming a little. The visuals were just too gorgeous! Soft, glowing tones that made Suzaku and Nunally look so sweet.
Right. On with the comments.
* My shallow side leapt with joy during the scene with Rolo and Lulu in the room.
Rolo's lines:
「守るものがあるから、僕は兄さんを助ける...
同じ運めだね、僕たち」
Sunshine sure knows how to up the moe levels.
But what's this? Is Lelouch sending Rolo on some dangerous mission to assassinate V.V.? Nuuuh! He can't discard him so soon.... Don't think anything was explicitly stated - Lelouch just said "And then there's V.V." and Rolo replied "Yup, it'll be the end of me, as a traitor/double agent". Not too sure if I understood it correctly, so shall wait for subs.
I like these screens >.< :
* The scene with the Student Council working on the garden was hilarious for these two reasons
1) Lelouch - you weakling! You call yourself a man? You're not doing any physical labour! The other guys are down to their shirts, and you're still in your jacket. Even your younger brother is carrying bricks. Well, he's a trained assassin, but no one else knows that (except for Suzaku...)
2) This screen totally cracked me up:
Rolo's giving Suzaku an eminently exemplary evil eye!!! Ahaha! And Suzaku's so blissfully unaware.
* More amusement could be had with the bit when Gino got all touchy-feely with Suzaku while Zero was watching.
My imagination had a wickedly fun time constructing Lelouch's reaction. :p The equivalent of the skulking Suzaku observing Rolo, Lulu, and their friend the potato knife/assassin's blade? Muahaha.
However, what's with Gino's suddenly scarily bulked up frame? Maybe all the alpha male posturing in from of Zero made him puff up. I don't like it. Go back to your original size....
* Re: Viletta and Ougi
From this episode, it seems like Viletta's feelings are just that bit stronger than Ougi's. Well, it could be just that we didn't get to see enough of Ougi. But the parting scene gave a little twinge of sadness to my heart. Aww, I really want them to be together! On a slightly related note, I really like Lelouch's ironic and slightly satirical tone he adopted when speaking to Viletta-"sensei". (JunJun!!! xD )
* The very last image was so poignant.
Yargh - why can't anyone explain to Suzaku that Euphemia's death was not deliberate? It was a complete freak accident. Lelouch had actually reconciled with her! I suppose the only one who can explain is Lelouch himself. But would Suzaku believe him? I blame the evil little creature V.V. for the schism between the two friends. Suzaku, if only you knew! The animosity between you two wouldn't be that great if you did. :(
* Glad that the episode was wrapped up pretty nicely - had enough cliff-hangers for a while, thank you! I actually enjoy cliff-hangers, though they're rather agonising as well.
And a few more screencaps, just because I have them. :p
The laughable:
Suzaku looks like a bartender in the one above! And practices his form below. Posture, young man, posture!
The pretty:
And the slightly pervy (hehehe):
I do think it's time for Rolo to get new casual wear though. >.<
And a finally, we end with my favourite stalking and stabbing psychopath:
WHEW. That was one seriously image heavy post!!
Tralala. Waiting for gg's softsubs to make things clearer. ^-^
Related news: as can be seen, I have a new Rolo icon!!! xD I love it so much! Can't believe I missed the big fat word 'LUNCH' despite having watched the episode more times than just once.... >.
