The Phoenix Has Risen

My new desktop has arrived. An Alienware X51 with Windows 7 which I have christened "Phoenix", a badass gaming rig that should be able to handle any major game I throw at it for the next few years. I will be looking forward to getting back in touch with Skyrim, Diablo and the other games that I used to play on the old machine.

Setting up Phoenix was a pain and a half, especially the monitor and the CPU. And while I have set things up satisfactorily so far, it's missing just one thing -- an internet connection, which I happen to need in order to set the rest of my shit up, including internet security. Trying to set it up to use my old Charter router and connection has met with no success -- the old disk to set up the connection does not recognize Windows 7, and trying to set it up manually has hit a brick wall. It wants a username and password to set up the connection, and to make things worse, it won't let me use Charter's install page which they're using now for setting up existing internet connections for new computers.

Since I do not wish to leech off someone else's Wi-Fi connection, I will need to call Charter about setting a connection for Phoenix up. I may need a new router, and since judging by the direction their help pages have taken, Charter has gone Wi-Fi with their service now, I strongly suspect that it will likely be a wireless router. Which means that I won't be getting online with the new machine and back in business for another day or so.

fucking connection, new computer, computer woes, phoenix
