More Thanksgiving, finally getting on the old computer again, and some quite pleasant surprises.

Saturday had us heading over to Aunt Pat and Uncle Jess's place for Thanksgiving.

A lot of our regular folks were there, including Ann, Aunt Deedee and Uncle Dean, Aunt Betsy and her new fiance Harvey, Uncle Mike and little Mikey, Angie, Elizabeth and Sam, Aunt Elly and Uncle Keith along with Jessie and Doug. Doug brought his new son, who goes by the name of Austin and is just adorable. Much of the usual bullshitting went on, while I spent most of my stay checking out police videos and college ball on Aunt Pat's new TV. It had been a while since I last visited the place, so I also took a tour of the place, and they've definitely changed a lot. Mom's contribution to the major dinner was the batch of meatballs that she usually makes, and like always, they were damned good. I ended up having several of those meatballs brought home in a container when we headed back home.

Yesterday, Mom and Dad did a bit of shopping, and in addition to some food that would tide me over until they can pick me up for some real shopping on Tuesday, they also got a new surge protector and an extension cord for the old computer. So after hooking up the old machine again, I fired it up and after waiting about ten or so minutes for everything to get loaded, I went to work in transferring my old gaming and writing files, in addition to several of my old games. I was quite pleasantly surprised to find out that both my gaming files folder and my writing files folders could fit onto the little flash drive that I was using to transfer them over to this computer, and I was even more pleasantly surprised to learn that BOTH of the Touhou games on my old computer, Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and Perfect Cherry Blossom, are runnable on this computer (I was only able to get Perfect Cherry Blossom running when I first downloaded them onto the old computer). The other major game, Touhou Rekkaden (Rift in a Friendship), was immediately deleted during the transfer of the folder it was in onto this computer, as much like Norton, McAfee classed its EXE file as a trojan. Oh well. I also brought over the major WAD files for DOOM, DOOM II and the shareware version of Heretic in preparation for downloading the newest version of ZDoom so that I can start kicking demon ass again.

family, old files, old computer, thanksgiving, touhou
